Yvonne turned around, and her eyes widened in horror as she saw her estranged father hit by a car. Gasping, her hand flew to cover her mouth.
The busy streets buzzed with activity, but all Yvonne could focus on was the sight of her estranged father lying motionless on the pavement. People had gathered around him, their voices, a distant murmur as adrenaline surged through her veins.
How could this happen? Yvonne wondered. Was it because of her that he ended up in this accident? Even though she hated him, she did not wish him death. Death seems so easy for him after what he has done to her.
But, then again, she has to think about her daughter, who is missing, not some estranged man who made her life hell.
Yvonne turned away from the scene and hurried home, each step heavy with dread.
"Alexis!" She exclaimed, her breath coming in ragged gasps. "Alisa...she's missing."
