The family members gazed at each other.
"That is impossible," a family member said. "Are you sure you read it correctly?"
Their family lawyer nodded his head.
"Let me see the will," her father said as he stretched his hand.
He handed the will to him, and Yvonne's father wore his glasses to see the will. Other family members get close to him.
He glared at them, and they removed their faces.
"The contents seem to be true."
This was not what was expected. He did give them a surprise before he died.
Yvonne's aunt from her dad's side scoffed at her, "You must be so excited. You receive so many properties, even though your husband has them."
Yvonne wore a slightly closed-lipped smile, the corners of her lips gently curving. The aunt clenched her fist and hit the chair.
"Congratulations," her father said, standing up and stretching his hand to Javier.
"Thank you." Javier shook hands with him.
They looked at each other for a while, and their hand shake tightened.
Everyone knew that they were not on friendly terms a long time ago, since the era of Faith.
Yvonne's stepmother cleared her throat to resolve the aura.
They let go of their hands, and Javier touched his side of the head before removing it.
"Since I am now the owner of the properties, I would give you all a week to move out."
They all froze, stared with wide eyes, and raised their eyebrows.
Yvonne's stepmother countered, and she maintains eye contact with Javier.
"What are you talking about?" She said, as she pointed down. "This is my husband's house, and it is not part of the properties."
Javier responded calmly, meeting the stepmother's gaze with a steady look. "I think you should ask your husband who owns the house." He then looked back at him.
Her stepmother looked at her husband and placed her hands on his arms.
"Honey, it is not true, right? It is your house, right?"
Her husband looked at her and removed her hands from him.
"Give us a month to move out."
Javier was not having it. He wanted them to move that instant, but given the fact that they once were a family to Yvonne, he decided to give them a week, but now they are really pushing it.
Her stepmother sat on the couch, and a dazed expression washed over her face.
"A month is a long time, and I don't have the patience for it," he said as he looked away.
"Alright! I know you have everything, but..." he paused a little. "About the company, I will give it to you once everything is cleared."
Yvonne looked at everything that was occurring with a dazed expression. The company that her grandfather worked for will be given to him.
She never believed that her grandfather would do such a thing; maybe Javier changed the will to favor him.
"You can do that, and make sure to check the account book because you won't like me if any cent is removed." Javier said as he looked straight at her father.
Javier took Yvonne's hand as they left the house.
Her father clinched his fists.
"Everyone, get out," he said, closing his eyes as he took deep breaths.
"What?" they all said.
"I said, GET OUT!" he yelled.
They all scrambled.
The door was shut, and it was only the stepmother and her husband.
"You see, this is the reason why I told you to kill him so he can change the will and we can get something, but now do you see where we end up?" she said, as her face remained composed in a strange manner.
She let out a sly smile.
"Shut up," he said, as he faced away from her.
"No, I won't. If we had killed him back then, none of this would have happened."
He turned around and hit her on the cheek which left a red mark.
She held her cheek as she was swelling up. She slapped him back.
"I am not like your first wife, whom you hit all the time," she said, as her body was burning up. "I will hit you if you ever hit me."
He puts his hand into the air, fingers clenching as if to attempt to hold her.
"Kate, you are daring me."
Kate walked up to him and grabbed him by the shirt.
"You can only use me as your anger outlet," she scoffed. "The girl who is not your child will have everything, while you will be left with nothing."
"How?" he yanked her hand away from his shirt.
"Have you forgotten? She is married to him, and directly everything all belongs to her."
"That is impossible."
Yvonne's father couldn't comprehend it. His first wife cheated on him, and she has those children from that man, so how could his father favor the children of that bastard? Just thinking about it makes him pissed.
"Think about it; Javier has a big empire. He doesn't need the company nor the house, so why does he want us to move out quickly if he won't give it to her?" She licked her lips and whispered to his ear, "If we kill her, we can pin the blame on Javier, and the properties become ours."
Meanwhile, Yvonne and Javier were in the car. The car ride was so quiet. Javier tried to have a talk with Yvonne, but she shut it down and never responded to him.
"Why is it that every day, your hatred towards me seems to grow? What did I do for you to hate me that much?" He tilted his head and pressed his lips together. His eyes searched for an answer as he gazed at her.
She said nothing, and she closed her eyes.
"Is it because of the lie I lied about before getting married to you?" he said. "I admit I got married to you because of your sister, but..."
As he was going to say it, she put on her earpod. Javier stopped talking, and the ride was very quiet.
They arrived home, and they each went to their respective rooms.
An hour later, Dennis got to his shabby home and lay down on his bed after a long time. He has been working since morning and was glad to finally be home.
His phone rings, and he lazily brings it out. He saw that it was Kate. He sighed and picked it up.
"What is it?"
"Why did you not tell me what Javier is planning?"
"How will I know what he is doing?"
"You are very useless," she said in anger. "There is nothing you know."
"Yes, there is nothing, I know," he said sarcastically.
He became serious.
"Why did you call me?"
"Find ways to kill Yvonne,"
