Angelique comes back from the bathrooms first, and when she glances at me, she appears embarrassed. 

"Maybe the whole manager thing was a bad idea," I say, and her eyes immediately grow round and pleading.

"No! I appreciate this opportunity so much, Dominik. I won't cause any trouble. Luka set me straight about… things," she says, pressing her hands together like she is prepared to pray or beg, "and I will do everything you need. No puns or jokes or insinuations intended. I respect you and them, and I respect all variety of lifestyles. Please, I just… I know I can do this. I have a lot of good ideas for the club. I know how to keep the other girls in line. I understand the challenges they go through, and I am great at pacifying VIPs." 

Luka and Ivan emerge from the hall next. When Luka sees Angelique and I talking, his eyebrows tent, and he stays back, lifting a hand to Ivan's chest and turning to speak to him about something.
