Natalie couldn't stop smiling as she helped Anna into her pajamas and tucked her into bed. She could see the little girl's eyelids growing heavy as she ran a hand through her long, soft hair. Anna looked up at Natalie with a dreamy smile.
"That was a lovely story, Natalie. Thank you."
Natalie leaned down, tucking a loose strand of hair behind Anna's ear. "You're most welcome, sweetheart. Now, close your eyes, rest well, and let sweet dreams carry you away."
With a content sigh, Anna's breathing turned heavier.
She looks like an angel. No wonder Alonso wants a girl who looks just like his lost twin. With a final tender touch, Natalie kissed Anna's forehead before quietly leaving the room.
"...Where are you, Alonso?"
Alonso had disappeared since Natalie came downstairs after changing her clothes. In her detective mode, she searched around peeking into rooms and listening at closed doors but found absolutely no sign of him.
