" Words cannot express the depth of my gratitude. Thank you so.much for saving my child. I'm really grateful ",the lady who called out their attention to the child also happened to be his mother ,and she couldn't stop thanking Noah.
Noah noticed tears streaming down her face, a mixture of relief, fear, and an overwhelming sense of indebtedness.
Clutching her child close, she turned to leave after Noah had told her many there was no need to thank him cause he was only at the right place at the right time.
His words stumbled and faltered as he wasn't sure what to saying to the woman. Then the boy who barely knew what was happening looked up at Noah with innocent eyes "Thank you." But those two words were laden with more emotion than Noah could ever feel..
With a nod of acknowledgement and a reassuring smile, he waved them goodbye
Left behind, Noah turned to continue when he noticed a grin plastered on Ceaser's face, his thumb thrown up in admiration.
The excitement in his voice was palpable as he declared that what you had done was nothing short of extraordinary.
"You already know my secret so stuff like this shouldn't come as a surprise to you anymore. My reflexes were faster and I could hear the lady's voice from afar".
"But still, it was pretty intense, though I wonder what would have happened if you weren't there"
"I'd rather not think of that. I'm just glad everything turned out ok".
"So anyways, the warehouse I was talking about is a little far from here so we better leave now if we want to make it in time".
"Guess we're going through train then, let's head to the station", Noah said as he increased his walking pace.
"Hey , slow down will ya".
Noah stood in front of the entrance to an underground train station with Ceaser beside him.
Noah couldn't remember the last time he got on a train and he never for once expected he would get onto one so soon.
As they stepped inside the station, a wave of cool air greeted them, sending a shiver down their spines.
The rhythmic clatter of trains moving along the tracks filled their ears, evoking an undeniable sense of wanderlust.
They purchased their tickets from the smiling attendant before descending into the depths of the underground, the dim lights guiding their path.
Finding an empty compartment, Noah and Ceaser settled into the worn-out velvet seats.
The doors slid shut, engulfing them in a momentary darkness before the train jolted to life with a gentle rumble.
As the train inched forward, its hesitation mirrored Noah's own eagerness, causing his heart to quicken.
The neon signs on the platform flashed past, illuminating the tunnel in a mesmerizing blur of colors.
Lost in his thoughts
He couldn't help but feel nervous, he was finally going to rescue his mom and his sister. But looking back at that message he wondered why it was written in code.
He knew the gunmen who were assigned to kill him were supposed to meet their boss or leader yesterday, so what will they do to his Mom and Nora now that they couldn't kill him .
A whole day had passed after all.
He hoped that nothing would happen to them, and he was sure as hell wasn't going to forgive the person who abducted them.
Noah turned his gaze towards the window, the vibrant cityscape fading into a blur as the train accelerated.
"How far exactly are we going though?",he thought.
Buildings gave way to dark tunnels, and the distant clatter of footsteps vanished, leaving behind only the hum of the train's engines.
Noah's eyes darted across the landscapes outside, observing the rapid changes in scenery; the occasional glimpses of street art adorning tunnel walls, flickering lights peeking through iron grates, and fleeting faces on the platform as they arrived at each stop.
In the midst of his introspection, Noah noticed Ceaser's heavy eyelids slowly drooping until he succumbed to the gentle lull of the train's motion, succumbing to a peaceful slumber.
His chest subtly rising and falling with every breath, Ceaser's presence in the compartment gave Noah a sense of comfort amidst the unfamiliar journey.
As the train continued its relentless course through the intricately woven subway system, time seemed to blur. Minutes turned into hours, and the city's heartbeat reverberated through the steel and concrete.
Noah couldn't bear to sleep as anxiousness pried his eyes wide open, he watched as stations came and went, each one providing a glimpse into the lives of countless invisible strangers they shared the city with.
Finally, the train began to decelerate, causing a familiar sense of anticipation to stir within Noah.
The screeching brakes assaulted their ears before the train eased to a halt, announcing their arrival at yet another station.
With a gentle nudge, "Ceaser! Wake up, I think we're here", Noah roused Ceaser from his slumber, a soft smile spreading across his face as his friend slowly blinked away the remnants of sleep.
"We're here already?". Ceaser said wearily, yawning in the process.
"Yes,now get your butt up and move. Let's go".
Together, they exited the train and stepped onto the familiar platform, greeted by the familiar sights and sounds of the city once again.
"The warehouse is not too far from here so let's get moving", Noah followed him in silence to the destination where they hoped would give them their answers.
As they stood outside , quite a distance from the abandoned warehouse, Noah gaze fixed on its weather-beaten facade, a multitude of sights and sensations overwhelmed him.
"This is the place" , Ceaser exclaimed , nudging Noah with a grin on his face.
Noah noticed the building which stood as a crumbling relic of forgotten industry. The peeling paint on its walls revealed layers of decay, each revealing a different era that had passed.
Faded graffiti adorned the bricks like whispers from a distant past, telling stories of rebellion and secret rendezvous.
Small shards of broken glass shimmered in the sunlight, a mosaic of shattered dreams.
The scent of dampness and decay permeated the air, a pungent mix of stagnant water and decaying wood.
It mingled with the crisp autumn breeze, carrying whispers of forgotten tales.
The taste of rust and metal filled his mouth, a hint of the years that had corroded the structure.
The sight of shattered windows and sagging beams bore witness to the relentless passage of time, and Noah looked closer, he could almost feel the weight of the memories that lingered within those dilapidated walls.
"This place is a dump, anyways let's get going".
But he was halted suddenly as Noah grabbed his hands , looking into his eyes with fierce determination.
"You stay here, I'll go in".
There was a momentarily silence between them both.
Then Ceaser pulled his arm back to himself "Whatever you're trying to do man, it's not funny".
"I'm serious!", Noah snapped, still not averting his stern gaze from his friend "I don't want something bad to happen to you so I think it's best you stay here".
"I can't believe this", he chuckled hysterically. "So you think you're some kind of dark hero who thinks he can do this in his own ?".
"No, it's not like that ok", Noah firmly replied.
"Then what is it? You didn't mention anything about going to do this on your own. Why now?".
Noah hesitated, not sure how he could put the words so his friend wouldn't get more angry than he is now.
"It's just ... It's just....".
"It's just what Noah , just what.... Say it so I can hear you!".
" You're going to slow me down!". Breathing heavily, Noah couldn't stop himself from saying those words.
Ceaser stared at him in utter disbelief ,sniffling, then wiping his face with his sleeve" Slow you down?! So that's what you have been thinking about me all along. I'm nothing but a drawback aren't I?".
Noah was silent.
"Fine , if that's how it is , I'm outta here. Goodluck finding your family, you ungrateful bastard ".
He stomped off , not looking back once, leaving Noah staring at his retreating figure.
He sighed, and proceeded into the building.
As he cautiously stepped inside the dilapidated entrance of the abandoned warehouse, a pungent smell of dampness and decay instantly assaulted his nostrils.
It was a rich and musty odor, a complex blend of stagnant water, rotting wood, and forgotten dreams.
The air was heavy, thick with memories clinging to every surface, inviting him to immerse myself in the forgotten narrative of this forsaken place.
As Noah's eyes adjusted to the dimness, flickering rays of light illuminated the vast emptiness before him.
The Warehouse laid barren and desolate, its structure fragile and crumbling.
Splintered beams straining under the weight of time sagged overhead while tiny shards of shattered glass glinted in the weak illumination.
The walls, featured peeling layers of paint, revealing the many coats that concealed its age.
Graffiti adorned the walls like whispered secrets, a silent testimony to the inhabitants who sought refuge within this forgotten haven.
Noah cautiously ran his fingers over the worn surface of a large metal container, rough texture lingering against his skin, speaking softly of years gone by.
A sudden gust of wind ruffled his hair, carrying with it the echoes of voices long silenced, the shuffling of feet that had long ceased to roam these hollow halls.
The silence was interrupted by the occasional scuttle of a rodent seeking a hiding place among the debris.
He could taste the air, tainted by the invisible particles of despair and abandonment; a faint metallic tang clung to his tongue, a lingering taste of tales untold.
The lingering chill clung to his skin, and as he made my way deeper into the warehouse, his footsteps echoed unnervingly against the decaying flooring, a haunting whisper that spoke of a place forever trapped in memories and remnants of the past.
To be continued
I'm getting ready to go to college so I'm going to be really busy these days but don't worry, it won't affect the story as I'll try my absolute best to still drop the daily chapter's. Thanks for understanding
