章節 6: New Work
The next morning, Eve returned to Los Angeles. Ryan picked her from the airport.
"How was your first shooting experience, Eve? "
"It was good. Baz Luhrmann is a good director and is comfortable to work with." replied Eve.
What she said is indeed true. Although Baz is strict like any other director on the set, but he is a person an actor would like to work with for a second time. He doesn't take multiple shots of a single scene and try to finish a take in the shortest time possible. Otherwise, there are many directors who like to take a single shot multiple times even if the previous shot is perfect. Working with such directors is a great depression. Baz also gives a little artistic freedom to actors whenever possible. This is something which many actors long for, including Eve.
The next day, Eve visited Kevin's office in Caa building.
"You called urgently, what's the matter?"
Kevin signaled Eve to sit down and then opened the drawer of his office table.
Eve sat down and looked at Kevin actions. He seems to be looking for something. Is it a new script? Her guess proved right.
Meanwhile, Kevin took out a bundle of copies and placed them in front Eve. "See if you like anyone of them."
Eve picked up the uppermost script and looked at Kevin. "Are these really for me?" Although she has worked in a movie as lead heroine, but it has not been released yet. So it's surprising that she can get so many scripts together.
Kelvin replied: "Yes dear, these are for you. These are only some short budget films in which Caa has invested, so auditioning or even getting the role is not difficult. And you seem to be forgetting that you have signed with co-chairman of Caa, not just some regular agent."
Eve nodded. She's quite imprersserd with Kevin's efficiency now. He got so many scripts for her in such a short time. Anyway, it's a good thing for her. These all are teen or horror movies. Of course, she's very satisfied with this. She is a not a fool to expect someone to cast her in a commercial blockbuster or literary movies when she hasn't even debuted yet. She picked up the scripts and started looking at them.
"Grace of my heart", a highschool musical of students.
"Freeway", a crime drama movie of a teenager running away from home.
"Stealing beauty", a romantic teen movie and is a rare female centric film. It's a good script, but it's a pity she has already shot 'Romeo and Juliet'.
"Fear", a crime drama teen movie. This movie was a sleeper hit and later became a cult movie. It's a good choice to work on.
"Sabrina the teenage witch", a comedy but it's not her cup of tea.
Suddenly, Eve's hand stopped on a script. It's surprising, but it's not uncommon that this script was also here. After all, nobody knew before its release that it would be such a big hit. "Scream", a cult classic horror movie. The success can be seen by the fact that it has already shot six squeals in the future. But then Eve's eyes changed. There is a problem.
Kevin who was dealing with his office work suddenly stopped. He noticed that Eve haf been looking at a script for a while now. "Have you found something good?"
Eve who was lost in thinking, came out of trance hearing Kevin's voice. She nodded: "Yes, I have. These two." she handed Kevin the script of "Fear" and "Scream".
Kevin took the scripts from Eve's hand and took a look at them. A teen crime drama and a horror movie. He read a little and then looked at Eve: "Both are okay, but we can choose only one. The time for the filming of both movies should almost be same."
Eve was a little hesitant, and replied: "To be honest Kevin, I prefer 'Scream', but you know it belongs to Miramax, and Harvey's reputation is not good. You should know about." she told the matter of hesitation. If she has a choice, she would prefer "Scream". It's a great horror movie and can increase her popularity a lot. But she knows about Harvey Weinstein behavior with the actors and his future "Me too" case. She doesn't want to get in touch with that pig. She would choose the other script rather than working with him.
Kevin was surprised that even Eve who is new in the circle knows about Harvey's deeds. It seems that a warning should be given. There are many such things in Hollywood as it has always between a dark reality of Vanity fair. No one will stop these practices, but the premise is that you don't overstep the line. If Harvey's reputation has reached the point of being so rotten in the upper-class that even a girl with no prior contact with hollywood knows about it, then its unimaginable how bad it must be in the industry.
He said: "You don't have to worry about this. First of all, with my and your father's presence, he don't dare try any tricks. And secondly, this project belongs to Bob Weinstein, not Harvey. I will make sure you don't even have to greet or see Harvey on the set."
Eve sighed in relief. It feels great to have a father like Liam and agent like Kevin.
