章節 151: God among men

[Congratulations, you have become a "Gladiator"!]

[Death isn't something to be feared as you have conquered death!]

[You are the liberator!]

Gladiator.

Yes, the famous fighter during the Roman Republic and Roman Empire.

While it was true that the gladiator was a slave and their purpose was to entertain the audience, as someone who stood on the stage, they fought by killing each other.

When one thought that they were nothing but entertainers or part of the pagan rituals, the gladiators thought differently, as fighting in the arena was their everything. They had nothing except for their bodies, skills, and experiences, which they had honed to stay alive in this cruel area.

With a single mistake, their lives were as good as gone, especially when health care was so backward.

Moreover, sometimes, there was some crazier event where they needed to fight a wild beast.

In such a do-or-die situation, they had to give their everything to stay alive.

Lastly, even though they were practically slaves, people's views of them changed after the legendary gladiator Spartacus led a revolt that started the fall of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire.

Even if Spartacus didn't live a long life and was just a gladiator, his name was undoubtedly remembered in history due to his feats in fighting against the legendary empire.

Mizuto wished to get stronger and add the element of fun, so he felt that this job was suitable for him, especially when he wanted to revolt against the current, the air, and standardization, where everyone had to live the same way.

He knew that this was crazy, and he knew that it was simply meaningless, especially when his opponents couldn't be seen, but if he gave up his fight, what was the use of him gaining this system?

As he gained the system, he should become the ultimate being, a being that was envied and could only look up to.

Moreover, if Spartacus, who was even lower than the commoners of the Roman Republic, could fight against this country, why should Mizuto give up on this ambition?

Lastly, while some might not agree, the gladiator was a symbol of men.

When one became the strongest gladiator, they received the highest and rawest status among men without relying on their status, wealth, heritage, and authority. They were just a single man who wanted to become the strongest for their ambition.

Some might not agree, especially when many start to talk about toxic masculinity or whatever, but let me ask you: if you are given the ability to become a man among men, will you refuse?

Mizuto couldn't refuse, so he chose this job. As expected, it was amazing, especially when he saw the five active and two passive skills he had received.

As usual, let him explain the five active skills first, which consisted of "Empower," "Combat Perception," "Battle Adaptation," "Crisis," and "Domination."

Starting with "Empower," it was a skill that doubled his physical ability to the maximum level. Naturally, this enhancement was permanent, and even if he didn't do anything, his body would become stronger as he leveled up this skill.

While this skill only doubled his physical ability, which might not seem like much, with his physical ability that matched the top athlete in the world, he would be so strong that he could destroy a small building or two with ease.

Yes, in the world of the supernatural, this might not seem like much, but this was a normal world where there was no superpower.

With such might, it could be said that he should become the strongest as long as he maxed out this skill.

Still, this wasn't the only skill of the "Gladiator" job; the next skill of this job was "Combat Perception." With this skill, his senses would be sharper, his intuition would be enhanced, and he could tell his opponent's weakness the moment he glanced at them.

Frankly, even if this skill was intended for a battle, he felt like it could be useful for daily matters.

Though, in his case, he felt like he could use it for a night battle, somehow.

Still, enough about this skill and moving on as his next skill was the "Battle Adaptation" skill. While this might seem abstract, it made him capable of putting everything in his surroundings into his weapons to defeat or kill his opponents. Whether it was his fist, legs, head, rock, sand, or even a branch, it could be a weapon for him.

Yet, the appearance of this skill didn't surprise him, considering how gladiators needed to adapt in every situation. Sometimes, their opponents would use trickery, making them unable to use all of their powers or weapons. Or they would fight a beast. Or they would be ganged by many people. They needed to face many situations to become legends, and this skill enabled him to adapt to all of the combat situations where his only purpose was to become the victor.

Still, as a gladiator, his most comfortable type of weapon was naturally a sword and a shield. While it might seem old-fashioned, there was no doubt that it was effective in defeating his opponents. Even in the modern world, all the police would use a riot shield and a baton, right?

At this moment, he realized that even though the gladiator might have vanished and become extinct along with the passage of time, their legacy still continued till now.

Feeling satisfied with this skill, he decided to check his next skill, which was a "Crisis," an ability that allowed him to become stronger as he was hurt. Yet, knowing the ability of this skill put him in a strange mood as he wondered when he was going to use this ability. After all, while it was possible for him to get hurt, he wondered whether there was even a situation where he had to fight, even if he was bleeding and wounded. Yet, as this skill was good and increased his survivability, he was satisfied.

Still, at least, he arrived at the last active skill, which was "Domination," the best skill of the "Gladiator" job." While it was strange, this was what he thought and why he thought so. It was because of its effect. The effect of this ability was simple, and it was to dominate the others.

Yes, that's it.

Yet, even if this was simple, he knew that the effect of this skill was absurd.

If he gave an example, it was like how someone was unable to do anything when they faced someone who was about to kill them. They were dominated by their fear and were unable to do anything.

Or when they faced someone who had a higher position than them, like their boss, which made them only docile and subservient.

This skill made him appear as a person who would dominate the others, whether it was their will or everything; when they faced him, there wasn't even a trace of willingness to fight as they had admitted defeat in their hearts.

When Mizuto thought about a gladiator, he knew that this skill was necessary since if they could get away without a fight, why should they fight? If their opponents willingly admitted a defeat, then wouldn't they become the victor? So, he understood why this skill existed in the "Gladiator" job.

Still, with this skill, somehow, he could see himself becoming a god among men.

Nevertheless, this wasn't the end, as there were still two passive skills from the "Gladiator" job, and those skills were "Instinct" and "Elixir."

The "Instinct" skill was kind of ambiguous as it gave him the ability to think of a solution with his reflex or more subconsciously than his mind. While he felt this skill was strange, he also felt like it was kind of useful since thinking was much slower than a reflex, so there was no doubt this skill was quite good to use, especially in battle.

Yet, as Mizuto was more into using his mind, he felt like he might not use this skill that much.

Still, compared to the "Instinct" skill, the "Elixir" skill was kind of unbelievable. Even compared to his active skills, this skill was... unique. Nevertheless, the effect of this skill was to make every part of his body into an elixir to enhance one's beauty or even an aphrodisiac.

Mizuto knew that this was kind of strange, but he had heard that sometimes, during the era of the Roman Empire, women in that era would use the sweat and blood of the gladiator for an aphrodisiac. Still, he felt like this was more like a superstition where those people in the Roman Empire wished for their children to be as strong as those gladiators.

Nevertheless, there was no doubt that such a belief was meaningless as there was no scientific reason behind it, yet in the era where everything was backward, there was no doubt this was the only thing they could believe.

However, such a ridiculous thing happened to him, which made him speechless.

Mizuto looked at his penis and fell in silence, thinking that he might have become a walking aphrodisiac.

As he held his head, he was afraid that his stepmother might even fall into his arms.

By the way, I have written an auxiliary chapter list of all Mizuto's jobs.
