The ride back home was silent, with no one saying anything until they got to Chen Mumu's house. It was already nighttime by the time they arrived. She walked in front, and he followed behind her slowly, like a guardian angel. Their steps were in sync, and the sheer sound of Xu Jingli's footsteps brought a lot of calmness to Chen Mumu's mind.

When they got to her house, Chen Mumu quickly turned around. "You should go back. I am here."

Xu Jingli nodded. "I will only leave after I see you get to your house."

Chen Mumu nodded, said goodbye, and wished him goodnight. Xu Jingli nodded and stood there, watching her go inside and then up the steps until the lights were turned on in her room. Only then did he turn slowly and walk away.
