Isabelle pressed a damp cloth to her forehead and sighed heavily.

The fabric stuck uncomfortably against her burning skin. Her lungs felt heavy and congested, making it difficult to breathe properly.

Every breath was labored, every movement painful. Her body ached all over from the illness.

It was annoying.

But at least she hadn't thrown up the meal Lyov and Phoenix prepared for her earlier that day.

Lyov sighed beside her, sitting on the edge of the bed, holding her hand and gently wiping down her forehead with another warm, damp cloth. She closed her eyes briefly, basking in the touch.

She shivered involuntarily, causing her muscles to spasm. A soft whimper escaped her lips as a sharp pain stabbed into her abdomen.

"Just breathe... Deep breaths." Lyov told her, brushing strands of wet hair away from her face. His voice was low, gentle but firm. It calmed her somewhat.
