William Cole gave a bitter smile, shook his head and said, "Minnie, stop joking with me."
But Minnie looked serious: "What do you mean by joke? I am very serious."
"Now you have no wife, and I have no husband, why can't we be together?"
Her voice was a bit excited, and her breath sprayed on William's face.
"Are you looking down on me?"
William was leaning on the passenger's seat, looking at the window of Ruth Dawn's hospital room on the third floor: "Of course not, I've just got divorced. I'm not in a mood to talk about these."
"Let's talk about this later. All I want to do now is sleep."
His eyes flickered for a moment, and then he closed his eyes.
Minnie got closer, their faces almost touching, but William didn't open his eyes.
"Forget it, I won't mention these."
"You should know that no matter if Ruth gives up on you, I won't."
