Knowing he’d probably slept with Rashida made everything worse. Knowing she would smell her perfume on, what else would they have done that night? Discussed things over tea and biscuits?

“Ziza—"

He took a step towards her and that was all it took to get her moving.

“Don’t!” With grace that surprised even her, Ziza set her laptop aside and spun on her heel to face him.

She stretched out her hands in his direction, with her fingers spread apart in a gesture that had him stopping instantly.

“Don’t you dare come anywhere near me!”

Rafiq sighed. “We need to talk.”

Ziza thought she saw guilt reflect in his eyes, but she doubted that emotion existed within the same zip code as him.

“We have nothing to talk about. You made that very clear the last time we spoke.” She hated that her voice trembled with each word. “Or better yet, why don’t you go back to Rashida and talk with her?!”

Ziza said, then burst into tears. So much for no more crying. Damn the hormones!
