Samuel Johnson was led out of the room by Mrs. Johnson, looking utterly lost and forlorn. Sitting on the bed, Amanda Smith watched this farcical scene unfold. The bowl of chicken soup was still in her room; she glanced at it quietly, thinking about Samuel saying he had made it personally for her, and her gaze turned cold.
"If you're only thinking of making amends now, isn't it a bit too late?"

The dinner that night was delivered by Mrs. Johnson herself. Mr. Johnson's delicate stomach couldn't handle the chicken soup, and after vomiting and suffering from diarrhea, he was taken to the hospital to have his stomach pumped.
As Amanda watched the person entering, she sat on the bed with her arms wrapped around her knees, a trace of surprise in her eyes.
She hadn't expected this woman to ever bring her food.
She watched coldly as Mrs. Johnson placed the food on the coffee table, expressionlessly staring at the woman in front of her.
