Once back home, Lin Ping'er asked about Tao Hua. Bai Ruozhu thought for a while and decided to tell her mother how Tao Hua's mother had reacted, to avoid any misunderstandings that could make her mother embarrass herself.
Lin Ping'er was particularly furious after hearing this. She threw the pig food buckets she had just finished feeding the pigs with to one side, saying, "What the hell, she saved Tao Hua, now she's giving you attitude, this is absolutely ungrateful."
Bai Ruozhu grasped her mother's arm and tried to reason with her, "I'm not angry, why are you? If she doesn't want to associate with us, we needn't humble ourselves to her. Uncle Dehai has helped our family before, treating Tao Hua is a way of repaying his kindness. If Tao Hua's mother doesn't like me, let it be."
Despite this, Lin Ping'er still resented it for her daughter and finally said, "Your Aunt Deshun is much nicer and she knows how to reason."
