Margaret Benson just couldn't take a hint.
It was clear as day the two girls weren't interested in conversing with her or having her invading their space, but just like always, Margaret was trying far too hard to 'belong'.
Margaret Benson was Ss3's outcast. She had no actual friends. She was seen as far too weird, far too loud, and far too dirty. Her hygiene was one thing, her attitude was another. Margaret was a big red flag to everyone. She had no friends because she was far too lousy, and too unkempt. Sometimes she liked to think she was better than every other girl and that getting a boy would be a piece of cake considering her lovely shape. But was having a big behind the only thing guys were attracted to? Margaret surely didn't know that.
One of her favorite things to do were sticking her nose into things that didn't concern her. It was 8:30 am in the morning, a few minutes after the morning assembly, and Naya and her best friend Ivory-Marie were in the middle of a conversation. One thing those two shared in common was their movie and music taste. Ivy brought up the topic of a new release of their favorite Korean drama series and Naya happily contributed, expressing her excitement and eagerness to watch it. Margaret Benson came out of nowhere and sat on Ivy's lap, smiling like they were childhood best friends.
"What the fuck is the meaning of this? " Ivy immediately reacted, her nose scrunched up as she tried pushing the girl off, "Get up jor! With that your fat ass."
Margaret Benson giggled, taking her words like teasings and wrapped her arms around Ivy's neck. "You're just jealous."
Ivy glared back at her. "Jealous of what? " She hissed loudly, "Margaret, get your ass off of me. Its too early for this shit."
Naya Ezeigbo stared between the two in amusement, but doesn't utter a word. Unlike her best friend, Naya barely spoke. The only time you'd see Naya speaking freely was when she was around people she was extremely familiar with. Naya was an anti social person, she liked it that way. She surrounded herself with books, and romantic movies and songs. Ivory-Marie was the complete opposite. Bold, outgoing and a social butterfly, Ivy loved to talk. The only difference between her and Margaret was that she had a pretty face, and people liked her. They didn't mind her talks. While Ivy was light skinned, almost as fair as an albino, Naya was brown skinned, skin brown like caramel. No doubt the two were both undeniably beautiful, always causing a stir with the teenage boys.
"I go beat person pikin o!" Ivory-Marie pouted, earning a giggle from her best friend. Naya parted her lips to intervene but frowned when she felt a pair of hands cover her eyes and block her vision. She blindly sought for the person behind her, a smile slowly forming on her lips as soon as she recognized the cologne of the person behind her. Ivory smiled into her knuckles, her irritation towards the girl on her lap quickly turning into excitement at the new person. Margaret's smile faltered, her heart pounding at an abnormal rate. The stupid thing was always faulty whenever he was around her.
"Guess who," He leant down to whisper into her ear. Naya visibly shuddered at his deep, husky voice, and so did Margaret.
"Zephan." He removed his hands from her eyes. She blinked a few times, adjusting to the room's natural light, then tilting her head back to stare at his face. He grinned at her and she smiled softly back. Margaret's lips twisted into a deep scowl, but no one noticed, or paid any attention whatsoever to her. Naya's eyes were focused mainly on Zephan, Zephan's eyes were focused on her steely grey orbs, and Ivory was focused on her favorite ship.
Now let's get this whole thing clear. Zephan Etaoma was crazy about Naya Ezeigbo. He and Naya's relationship had been building since the beginning of senior year, even though it first started one sided. Zephan liked her first but he was dating her friend at that time. Naya liked him back some time after he broke things off with her friend but was a bit hesitant. Zephan didn't give up though. He wanted her and he made sure to work hard to get the girl he wanted, even though not many people were happy at that time of their union...some still weren't happy seeing them together.
Margaret Benson has liked Zephan since last year His pretty face and charming smile always sweeping her off her feet and causing her heart to turn faulty sometimes. Margaret wants Zephan, but she's not sure how to get him. The boy barely spares her a glance, how was she going to win him over if he didn't even want to look at her? She didn't understand his affection towards Naya. Naya Ezeigbo was not the type of girl Zephan usually went after. She wasn't thicc, neither was she outgoing, she wasn't even that pretty. Why the hell would a hunk like him like a basic girl like Naya Ezeigbo? She always wondered.
She watched in distate as he moved to stand in front of her. Naya sat on her desk, once facing her best friend, but now she was scooting to the end to be closer to Zephan. Her arms wrapped around his neck and he held her to him by her waist. She watched, boiling with rage and envy as they pulled away from each other and he kissed her on the nose, cupping both her cheeks in the process.
What the hell did a hunk like him see in a basic girl like Naya Ezeigbo?
Margaret's smile returned when their teacher walked in unannounced and spotted them. Mr Francis was a no nonsense man and easily angered.
"What is the meaning of this rubbish? Mr Etaoma! Back to your seat this instant!" Both Naya and Zephan jumped away from each other, looking frightened. Margaret got up from Ivy's lap and made her way towards her seat, all the while smiling.
"You children of nowadays. Both of you will follow me to the principal's office after this class. Now get to your seat!" Zephan eyed the man in annoyance but did as told. Naya hopped down her desk and sat properly, facing forward but avoiding the man's glare.
Margaret giggled into her hands as she pulled out her notes.
« That'll teach that boyfriend stealing weirdo. »
