章節 14: anomalies (chapter 14)

A/N what do you guys think of ted with a god killer sword and a god killer armour and he slaughters the greek gods?

---------------------

Sitting in the cashier seat with a red, somewhat smooth ruby, Ted couldn't help but smile as he contemplated the potential benefits of his newly crafted magical item. The faint warmth of the gem resonated with the enchanting power infused within it. "Goodbye to blood loss," he thought, reassured by the description of the item.

Getting up from the chair, Ted headed for the kitchen after a successful sale to a kind old lady. The ambiance in the antique shop felt comforting, with the eclectic mix of artifacts whispering tales of the past. He paused, contemplating a seemingly mundane egg in his hand. "Hmm," he mused for a moment before chuckling at a whimsical idea. "Having a pet chicken is not that bad," he thought, and a playful smile graced his face as he sat in a lotus position.

However, at the six-minute mark, Ted's eyes widened in surprise as he spewed blood from his mouth, nose, and ears. His face paled momentarily before he quickly grabbed the Blood-Ruby. The spilled blood floated up and gathered into a sphere, seeping back into Ted's body, restoring his complexion. "Nice," he muttered to himself, satisfied with the effectiveness of his enchantment.

Returning to his meditation, Ted delved back into his sea of consciousness, attempting to transcribe the words 'Ovum Vitalis' into runic alphabet using the particles of blood energy. "Thank God I'm starting to learn Greek," he remarked in his astral form. The intense sensation of blood draining and the metallic smell of iron surrounded him, and yet, it was a familiar experience for Ted, who had become accustomed to such rituals.

After enduring gruesome hours of vomiting blood, intense meditation, and breaking seven eggs, Ted finally succeeded in carving the rune into an egg. Frustration echoed in his near-yell as he questioned his obsession. However, gazing at the runic letters on the egg before him, a smile bloomed on Ted's face. "Who knows, maybe it might be worth it."

A/N you might want to remember the guy above, cuase he is important, dont forget him (i didnt....)

"This…" To say he was stunned would be an understatement. The egg in Ted's hands held the promise of potential, but the 50% failure rate weighed on his mind. "Although 50% failure is too high for my liking, but then again, such is the unpredictability of rune carving," he sighed to himself as he carefully placed the egg in a safe spot, surrounded by the soft glow of the enchanted artifacts within the shop.

-scene change-

The next morning, a bustling crowd filled Ted's antique shop. The atmosphere buzzed with the energy of potential transactions as people came and went, each carrying a piece of history with them. Ted found himself in the midst of it, negotiating deals, examining artifacts, and preserving the stories embedded within each item. The warm glow of antique lamps cast a nostalgic aura over the shop, accentuating the significance of the relics that passed through Ted's hands.

After six hours of unusually brisk business, Ted closed the shop, his mind swirling with questions about the sudden surge in customers. "Something... why the hell was the shop so busy?" Despite the confusion, Ted donned a nice set of clothes before stepping out into the city night. The alleys and streets of Gotham City sprawled out before him, illuminated by the soft glow of streetlights and neon signs.

"Apparently, according to Google, there should be a privately-owned blacksmith shop a couple of hours from here," Ted mused, adjusting his attire as he strolled along the sidewalk. He found himself contemplating the diminishing supply of crystals in his possession. "Maybe I should go back to the Gemworld and get more crystal." The mere thought of returning to that mystical cave brought a mix of anticipation and caution. "As long as it doesn't send me hurtling to someplace else," he chuckled to himself as he continued his nocturnal journey.

Suddenly, a heavy downpour started, causing Ted to grimace. "What the hell is wrong with this weather? We just had a clear night sky, well, as clear as Gotham can be," he muttered, looking up at the unexpected rain. The more he walked, the more he noticed abnormal weather patterns reported on the news – untimely volcano eruptions, instant ice cap melting. Witnessing these anomalies, an idea sprouted in Ted's mind. "Yeah, I will litter every room with runes."

[1 week later]

In a large warehouse filled with the clangor of metalworking, several individuals moved with purpose. The atmosphere was thick with the scent of hot metal, and sparks danced in the air. Ted, with sweat rolling down his face, pounded a metal sheet over an anvil. The ambiance was dominated by the rhythmic sound of hammers on metal. Jack, a tall man with a rough beard and dirty blond hair, observed Ted's progress.

Ted, soaked in sweat, continued shaping the metal, making mistakes promptly corrected by Jack. The surroundings were a symphony of industrial sounds, echoing through the large warehouse. "Alright, that is it. Now, dip it in that bucket of vermiculite," Jack instructed. The bucket held a substance resembling dirt, but it was more of a wood-type material. After waiting for the metal to cool down, Ted proceeded to polish and smooth it out, the process of tempering the iron.

With Jack's watchful eye, Ted successfully shaped the metal into a square sheet, a sense of accomplishment enveloping him. "Well, not bad," Jack remarked, and Ted's smile widened. "Now, throw that chunk of metal to the side and start smelting those pieces of scraps," Jack ordered. Ted sighed, acknowledging the workload, and followed the instructions.

After an hour of mentorship, with the clock striking midnight, Ted decided to call it a night. He put on his true sight glasses before ordering a cab, massaging his sore arm. "Maybe I should just teleport there, but 30% is a little too much for my liking," he pondered as he boarded the cab. Glancing at the driver, he sighed. "Where to?" the driver asked, and Ted replied with his address. As the cab journeyed through the city, Ted continued to massage his sore arm and yawned.

"I should probably conceptualize a rune that helps with my sleep," he mused, reflecting on the lessons of the day. His mind buzzed with ideas for different runes. "Hmm, maybe I should carve a rune into my own hammer, anvil, and furnace," he nodded to himself, envisioning the potential enhancements for his tools. The cab moved through the night, its tires humming against the wet pavement, echoing Ted's contemplations.
