70.76% Pokemon and the Unchained Mind(Pokemon SI AU) / Chapter 45: Nap powder

章節 45: Nap powder

"Cet and Nia let's show them who's boss," I called out, smirking.

"Gust, Cet."

"Nia! Bubble beam, spread the bubbles."

Waves of pressurized winds battered the jellyfish Pokemon blowing quite an amount of them away.

Nia followed with bubble beams knocking out some of the Tentacool.

The remaining Pokemon retaliated with poison stings which Cet deflected with gust.

They couldn't do anything but watch Cet weave in and out of their range smacking them with powerful gales.

Nia did her part by spreading the bubbles onto the lake, letting the waves carry the bubbles to the Tentacool swarm.

I reasoned that both Nia and Tentcool would have a similar attack range as both of them are not pure water Pokemon, and kept Nia out of their range, letting the waves deliver her attack bubbles, in fear of the Tentacool overwhelming her with numbers.

'Why take risks when you can just hit your enemies from far away? There is a reason why flying types rock after all,' I thought smirking, watching the lake littered with fainted Tentacool.

"Nia, Aim for the big one," I instructed, sending Nia back into the water as most of the Tentacool were knocked out. Now after thining their numbers it's time for Nia to shine.

She can dedicate her attention to one Pokemon not worry about literal poisonous hugs from every side.

The waves generated by the Tentacruel carried the knocked-out Tentacool way from the centre of the lake, clearing the battlefield for us.

Nia swam around the Tentacruel occupying its attention.

Just like ducks on earth Nia's swimming looked like she was running on the water which is nearer to the truth than I like to believe.

Nia was awesome in the battle, she ducked in and out of the water to evade some moves and dodged others by flying. She was making use of all of her advantages quite efficiently.

Our silly practice in every bathtub or any body of water we come across paid off, it seems.

It was a proud trainer moment for me as with Cet he was the one who performs or modifies his evading techniques after getting a general outline from me, mostly on instinct.

Nia didn't have that talent, but she had a terrifying talent for aiming. In which I couldn't help her with anything other than setting up targets.

So, seeing our practice produce marvellous results made me very happy.

Beaming widely, I signalled Cet to dive in.

Cet silently dived towards Tentacruel, whose attention was fully occupied by the elusive Nia, and bit into the token.

And before Tentacruel could react he blitzed away with a quick attack.

I shouted for Nia to retreat and recalled after she entered the Luxury ball recall range.

I ran for it, away from the lake, smirking at the Tentacruel with Cet following me.

The lake may contain an orange token as the Tentacool are supposed to be in oceans and seas, there could be a tunnel in the lake to the ocean. But I decided to search for it another time when every Pokemon in the lake wasn't agitated by our battle.

I dashed through the dense foliage, fleeing from the lake, and stopped to hide behind a tree merely two meters away from the lake- afraid of encountering other wild Pokemon.

As I was feeling good about myself, a tall grass beside me shook, catching my attention.

"Oddish.." It was not grass but a crouching Oddish who was releasing indigo-coloured powder after getting startled by me.

'The..he…lll' My world slowly spun out of my control as I leaned against the tree.

I blacked out.

I woke to a wet feeling on my face. I opened my eyes only to see a dumb pink face occupying most of my vision.

The Slowpoke licked my face again spurring me into action.

I rolled away from the pink Pokemon and stood up.

Cet flew down to me to get some licks of his own.

The Slowpoke tried to lick the previous place I was in and was met with air.

"Sloo," it growled, confused as the human it was licking disappeared.

"Slowww" it exclaimed seeing me and took a step towards me after staring at me for a minute.

'God, how long was I asleep?' My last memory was seeing an Oddish panic and punt its powder onto my face.

'It didn't even ask me for permission to spray the perfume. Someone's parents didn't teach them manners,' I thought sarcastically looking around for the said mannerless oddish.

When I was looking at the map, I thought the jungle would be where I would collect the highest number of tokens.

But now a slight rustle of the grass made me jump as I didn't like my nap time to be decided by others.

'At least, there wasn't a Weepinbell who wanted to taste the furless Mankey,' I thought, now feeling daunted at the task of traversing this thick jungle.

"Well, you would have yeeted anything trying to eat me, right? buddy," I asked the Zubat before remembering how he let the Slowpoke lick me.

'He knew it didn't mean any harm,' I repeatedly muttered to myself.

As I was self-suggesting to myself that Cet wouldn't let me get eaten just because a pretty flower caught his attention, the bushes in front of me rustled again.

The floor was littered with overgrown roots, which were peeking from the cover of the dead leaves. The treetops obscured the sky letting a small amount of light reach the jungle floor. An odd mix of bushes and grass decorated the jungle floor along with dead leaves and roots, the only good source of light was from the opening where the lake was present.

Leaves swayed in the wind as bushes rustled, shadows shifted in the treetops making me believe there were multiple Pokemon present- observing me.

"Cet, use Gust," I ordered, resolving to test whether I was being paranoid or multiple Pokemon were eyeing me.

The wind crashed into my surroundings giving rise to many voices.

"Bell…, odd.., glooo..,"

Multiple Pokemon got ejected from their hiding places but they quickly scurried away, perfectly camouflaging with the environment.

'Seriously,' I thought astonished looking at the panicking grass Pokemon.

There were at least 5 Pokemon in a circle of 5m radius.

'That was too many,' I muttered shocked at how close they were to me and each other.

It was not new for Pokémon who are at a distance to ignore me, as this was a common occurrence to me on most routes.

But I would receive more attention if I walk through this jungle. As I have all the grace of a bull in a china shop has, not for the lack of trying mind you.

I don't think anyone can move silently or stealthily in this forest.

Even if you somehow avoid stepping on dried leaves and branches, which is impossible. I don't think the Pokemon will appreciate me invading their personal space, as witnessed by the mannerless Oddish.

I took breaths and decided to use my ultimate move- I released the stench.

In simple words, I stunk, I stunk hard!!

*cough* I mean, I used a buttload of repels.

The jungle came alive with activity as every Pokemon around me scuttled away from me due to the smell emitted by repels.

'Cower before me, for I am the smelly overlord of the stinkiest depth of the Stinkyland,' I snickered before cringing and continued walking with a spring in my step.

I slowly made my forward, towards the cliff I saw near the lake, leaving the sound of scrunching leaves behind me, using a new repel whenever I exited the range of the previous one.

It seems Cet too didn't like the smell as he maintained more than normal distance between us.

The walk towards the cliff was exhausting as I detoured around every long patch of grass and thick bushes.

Even with the use of repel, I wasn't taking chances as repel was not created to be used like this, repels are used to create a stationary safe space; I didn't like snorting powder after all even if they are colorful in Pokeworld.

Finally, I reached the cliff. Owing to the rocky surface of the cliff the vegetation was sparser here.

I finally relaxed after climbing 10M on the cliff.

I turned around and stared back at the jungle I came from with disappointment.

I thought with my flying-type Pokemon I would have an easy time collecting tokens from grass-type Pokemon, but it seems it was not meant to be.

Now I understand why Joy didn't want me to go into the jungle. At my level, I can't even protect myself if a Pokemon pops at my back let alone from one-man flying cartels like Butterfree, which thankfully I didn't encounter.

'Hmm! I wonder how Cet will fare against a Butterfree, I think some of the owned Caterpie would have evolved into Butterfree already.'

My musing was interrupted by a Rattata emerging out of a borrow- the repel most likely wore off.

After sniffing around, it glared at me, gnashing its teeth.

"Well, I know Cet can defeat a Raticate easily," I muttered looking at the aggressive rat Pokemon.

"Send it packing, Cet," I called out, disregarding it.

With a Quick Attack, the Rattata was tossed back into the hole it crawled from.

Just when I was going to give a victory pose-sue me, I just wanted to feel good about myself after running from the jungle with my tail between my legs- angry squeaking sounds came out of the burrow giving me a bad feeling.

'Dealing with some Rattata is of no problem,' I murmured with a fake smile, knowing that the chances of a swarm only made up of Rattata were near zero.

....

Our MC will know why people fear the wild in the next chapters.

Look forward to it!
