Going back a few minutes…
Luke watched in satisfaction as his Bionic chip finished copying all his memories into its database, and beginning to rapidly deduce a lot of things.
[Host had died in the explosion. The explosion almost completely destroyed your body as well as a large portion of the original Terra.]
[An unknown energy stopped your body from completely being destroyed. In the process, the chip was temporarily fused with your information state]
[Time elapsed since explosion: unknown]
[An unknown energy entered your information state and tried to integrate your memories]
[Unknown energy had successfully been blocked]
[Unknown energy had separated the chip from the host's information state, but the chip had remained in its own information state]
[Host's information state entered the body of a recently deceased human. The human had been revived by the unknown energy, and the process took 3 days.]
[Chip's information state expired and formed a new identical chip in the host's new body]
'… Well, that sure is something…'
[Host is no longer on Terra]
'…'
Suddenly, Luke felt countless explosions going off around him and he could hear the wailing cries of a child. But it sounded incredibly unnerving and he immediately got up and popped his head out of the alley.
*Bang* *Slik*
A bullet went right through the right side of his forehead and exited from the other side. At almost the same time, a sword cut off his head. Unfortunately, the one with the sword came from the opposite side to the bullet, and the bullet, upon exiting Luke's head, found its way into the skull of the sword-wielder.
Just like that, two people died, resulting in an even larger and more deadly class between the different groups involved.
…
Back to the present, Max followed the faint intermittent signal to the dock of the city, where he had entered from. It was already night time and Max could barely see. Thankfully, the red moon was reflecting just enough light to make two men in white clergy clothes visible, sitting at a fire with a metal rod in their hands, poking at the fire to make sure everything was nice and evenly burnt.
Max immediately activated his Beyonder Ability to [Fool] the Beyonder abilities of other Beyonders and hid himself from them. He could feel they were only Sequence 9 Beyonders, as only people of such low standing in a Beyonder Organisation would be left behind to light something on fire and ensure it burns.
[AN: I felt like Captain Haddock from Tintin writing this line… Blistering Beyonders lmao]
Still, Max did not make them do something else, as that might be found, and instead made it so their Beyonder abilities and Spirituality would not notice the small area behind the dumpster where he was hiding.
Even if someone with some random Beyonder ability to read memories were to look at this scene, they would not find anything odd with it since people tended to not focus on a lot of things around them. Not focusing on something they could not see was just a human thing to do.
After that, he waited, as he could still feel the slight connection from inside the fire, and it was not weakening in the slightest. If it began weakening, or if the Beyonders who Max now recognised were from the Eternal Blazing Sun, found whatever it was that was making the signal and tried to take it away, Max would jump after them and snatch it away.
However, nothing like that happened and after about 1 hour, most of whatever they were burning had turned into ash, so they put out the fire and tossed all the ash and stones in the fire-pit into the sea to completely scatter it and spread it everywhere, and nowhere.
'The fire must have been a lot hotter than normal fire. Even the cremation fires that are about 10% hotter than what the normal flame can achieve even with the best ventilation and fuel, would take almost 3 hours to completely cremate a body. They did it in under an hour…'
Max cautiously waited for half an hour as the night continued in silence, waiting for some random Beyonder to appear as though checking if the job was done properly or not.
After another hour, Max was beginning to get hungry, so he pulled out some jerky and ate it without hesitation. He would likely have to jump into the sea to recover whatever was making the connection, and he could not do it on an empty stomach… or his good clothes for that matter.
Thus, after eating, Max stripped and put on some commoner clothes that were torn in a lot of places. It did not matter since the water was not too cold despite it being near the end of September, and the reason for this was that he was in the southern hemisphere of the world. The weather worked at the opposite time of the year. Currently, winter has just ended and it was near the peak of spring.
Plus, he was pretty close to the equator, so it was warmer than further south as well.
Of course, before jumping, Max made sure to test the water, and after sufficient encouragement for his survival, Max jumped into the water. He pulled out two corks to close his nose while putting on goggles made of glass and lather for his eyes. Finally, he pulled out a small metal ball with the Unity Symbol carved into it and put it in his mouth.
Then, he took a breath while underwater. The ball released sufficient air for one breath, and Max blew out the air from around the ball. This part took a bit of skill, but practice made it very easy to use. As for where the air came from? Of course, it was from the Sefirot where he stored a lot of air just for something like this.
