Seeley had thought that all between Asher and her was fine as they walked the short way to the Crenshaw’s dive shop, but he hadn’t said a word.
She sensed something had shifted between them. Maybe the green-eyed surfer didn’t blame her for losing his job, but he hadn’t held her hand on the way.
Maybe he just needed some space to work out what had just happened.
The copper-haired diver didn’t get to dwell on it long, because soon they came back to the dive shop, where she secretly dreaded getting her things from the Crenshaws.
“Seeley!” Mandi called out, wearing a wide-brimmed straw hat and holding a coconut with a wide paper straw and pink umbrella in it.
Despite everything that just happened, the copper-haired woman willed a brilliant smile to her face and rushed over to hug Mandi. Looking back, she wasn’t sure if Mandi was a hugger, but she damn did she really need one right now.
