Faced with the girl's stern accusations, I took a few deep breaths, trying to calm my emotions before offering her a smile.

I continued, "Tell me, where did you hear all these things?"

"Everyone knows it." Although Martin had already left, the girl remained stiff and maintained a defensive posture when facing me.

"Every member of The Obsidian Pack knows that our Alpha abandoned us, allowing the warriors of The Dark Night Pack to overrun our land, making our home destroyed by the flames! And Alpha's daughter—"

The girl's accusatory tone faltered. She looked at me, and the contempt in her eyes felt like a sharp blade cutting into me.
