After concluding the meeting with my father, I returned to my room with a heart full of grief and indignation. The bedroom seemed meticulously preserved, almost unchanged from before I got married. Unfortunately, at that moment, I could no longer find the naive and innocent self from the past.

Sitting on the bed, I wept silently while packing my belongings.

Suddenly, my phone, placed nearby, rang—it was a call from Peter.

"Amber? Are you okay?"

Peter's caring words instantly comforted my sorrow. Though he couldn't see my face at that moment, I rallied, wiped away the tears from my cheeks, and forced a smile as I responded on the phone, "I'm fine, Peter. You don't need to worry about me."

Peter sighed in relief, evidently unaware of any clues, "That's good."

Then, Peter's tone became serious, "I have something important to tell you, Amber."

I sensed gravity in Peter's voice, and my heart subconsciously tensed, "Has something happened?"
