章節 38: Doran
After waking up, Blanc did a bit of stretching.
He then ate breakfast and quickly made his morning rounds to check if the new settlers were doing well.
Blanc first walked towards the construction team's resting quarters.
Looks like the veterans already began teaching the newbies while the new settlers with existing experiences were mixing in with the veterans.
They were trying out the cement which they will use to build more advanced structures.
"Chief Kirk? Is chief Kirk here?"
Blanc asked for the man named Kirk.
Kirk was the elected head of the carpenter association.
He was a middle aged man so he was still fairly strong and in addition, he was the most experienced carpenter out of all of them.
He even has some experience in building stone structures before he went to settle in Blanc's village.
"Hmm? Mayor Blanc? Do you have a new task for us?"
Kirk replied.
The carpenter association members are currently hired by the town government. This means that even if they have nothing to build, they would still be paid every month.
This protocol is to prevent the carpenters from going hungry when there are no building assignments.
After all, Blanc was the one who assigned them to that job when the village was just starting out so he can't leave them hanging with such a disadvantageous working setup.
Today though, it seems that Blanc has a task for them.
"Yes, starting today, you guys will start building stone houses which can accommodate 4-5 people each. As we previously discussed, the stone houses will be built in identical designs."
"Since we now have cement, stone blocks, and steel rods, I believe you can teach others how to build houses using stone materials correctly?""
Blanc asked Kirk for confirmation.
"Yes, Mayor. We now have all the necessary materials for building stone houses. You can leave this to me."
Kirk said confidently.
"Thanks Kirk. I leave this matter in your hands."
After seeing Kirk's confidence, Blanc was reassured.
Blanc actually put great importance in the creation of stone houses with standard design.
His goal here is to motivate the citizens to work harder so they could buy their own stone houses.
The stone houses will be designed luxuriously and will be a symbol of status for accomplished individuals.
In the future, Blanc will design even more luxurious houses to increase everyone's motivation even more.
After the matter with the carpenters was over, Blanc left and checked the farm.
As expected, although it is very tiring, farm work does not require very complex skills.
The new citizens were able to adapt quickly and are actually now starting their own farm work with minimal supervision.
The farmers were very motivated.
They can't wait to save enough money and buy their own land.
As farmers, they want to own land and sell their own crops in the marketplace or even start their own agricultural companies.
After confirming that there were no problems with the farmers, Blanc headed towards the newly opened restaurant.
The restaurant is huge, Although it is not luxuriously designed at the moment, it is able to accommodate around 150 people on the first floor and 100 people on the second floor.
The chefs from the town kitchen are currently working at the restaurant.
That includes the new citizens who chose cooking as their line of work.
Currently, people don't need to pay to get food from the restaurant.
However, three months from now, there will no longer be free food.
The citizens will have to either buy ingredients and utensils from the marketplace and cook at home or go to the restaurant to eat.
It can be seen that the chef trainees were currently very clumsy with their work.
They should be able to learn and increase their mastery in a few months though so there should be no problem.
After seeing that the restaurant is not in need of his help, Blanc left and checked the craftsmen at their workshop.
Similar to the other career paths, there seems to be no problem and the seniors are guiding the apprentices properly.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly.
Next, Blanc headed to the smithy.
The smithy was a bit small but it can still fit the ten new citizens with experience in smithing.
After a short period of walking, Blanc arrived at the smithy.
"Hello? Is Doran here?"
Blanc asked for the man named Doran.
"Oh! Mayor, you're finally here. We've been waiting for you."
The man named Doran said.
Doran looked like your typical blacksmith. He had big bulging muscles and a beard.
"Sorry, I was late because I checked if the others are doing well."
"No worries. Before you got here, I checked everyone's mastery in forging."
"We got one tier 1 master blacksmith, one tier 3 advanced blacksmith, two tier 1 advanced blacksmith, and the rest are novice blacksmiths."
Doran said.
"I see, Good work. I assume the master smith is you?"
"NYAHAHAHAHA! Of course it's me."
Doran said proudly.
Although Doran was a little rough with his words, Blanc really liked the guy. After all, he is very honest and jolly.
Hearing Doran's reply, Blanc smiled and said.
"We're really happy to have you guys here in Resonance town."
"Oh by the way, I would like to confirm if there's anything else that you need before you can start crafting?"
"Hmmm…Seeing that we have furnaces, tools, and some ores here, I believe we have everything we need to craft weapons and tools."
"However, we currently cannot craft anything with enchantment as we do not have the materials for that. In addition, we need higher quality ores and furnaces to forge a weapon with enchantment."
Doran clarified.
"I see. Thanks for that information, standard weapons and tools should be ok for now.
"For your first task, we would like to order 200 standard iron swords, 200 standard iron bucklers, and 5000 arrows"
Blanc said to Doran.
"Woah, woah! Easy there mayor! That's a lot! There's only ten of us here!"
Doran complained.
"I'm sorry Doran, you guys are the only ones I can rely on regarding this. Please prioritize the 200 standard iron swords and the 200 standard iron bucklers. The deadline for those is three months."
"As for the 5000 units of arrows, there is no deadline so just keep making them once you are done with the priority order."
Blanc explained.
"Hmm…I see. That will still be hard but manageable. Alright! Leave it to us mayor!"
Doran said with confidence.
"Thanks Doran! I'll return every once in a while to check on you guys. Please don't hesitate to approach me or file a request in the town hall if there's a problem with either your facility, tools, or materials."
"Got it! Thanks mayor! Alright everyone! Let's start forging!".
Blanc was lucky that there were many experienced blacksmiths among the new citizens.
The biggest surprise is Doran. As a master blacksmith, Doran can make a name for himself in the capital of any kingdom.
Despite that, he still chose to live a peaceful life and settle down in Resonance town.
This solved his problem on where to procure such large amounts of weaponry and tools for the time being.
After all, ordering such large amounts of weaponry from the nearby kingdoms is bound to get attention sooner or later.
After a few moments, the blacksmiths immediately started to work.
Blanc didn't want to disturb them so he left and headed towards his next destination.
