章節 23: Genesis
Where am I? I wondered for a long time. Looking around me, I saw nothingness, pitch-black darkness in front of my eyes, and some wall. What was this place? I thought while extending my hand forward. A wall? I could feel a hard border, but there was something weird to it. If I just pushed a little on the wall, it moved. It didn't make sense. Why was I here? I didn't know. My consciousness came back out of thin air. Why was my consciousness gone? Oh, yeah, I died, didn't I?
Suddenly, while in the middle of my thoughts, my body pushed the barrier with enough strength to break free. Where am I? I asked again. This time, the view in front of me was rock walls. And an eggshell in which I was still in. Seeing the eggshell confirmed it. That weird social media guru was right. If you catch an administrator's attention with genuine evil or good acts, they will reincarnate you into a fantasy land. So, I did catch an administrator's attention, awesome. Since I am prepared for this, allow me to see my stats random system of this world! Show me how overpowered I am!
Nothing, was this world, not a fantasy land? Why didn't some fancy screen showing me stats prop up? No, this has to be a fantasy world. I was born in an eggshell in some cave somewhere. There is no way I got reincarnated on Earth as an insect. First of all, What even am I? I looked at my own legs and body shape for once. I wasn't this for real. There was no way. I am a scorpion, but where are my brothers and mother? There should be like a thousand more along with me. Then a phone appeared in front of me with a voice coming out.
"Congratulations for doing such an awful deed to entertain me," said the voice from the phone. Immediately, I knew who this person was. It must be an administrator, I thought, but then it answered. "Yeah, you got it. I am an administrator." The voice said, wait, did you just read my mind? "Yup, since you can't talk, I took the small liberty to mind-read you. That is all I've got time to say for now. Please entertain me so much with your new life, m'kay?" Wait, where are you going? I have so many questions for you, don't leave wait!
The phone disappeared the same way it had materialized. This administrator didn't answer my questions or give me any advantage. I then kept trying for any way to display any sort of level or read me something. With little success until, I heard another voice while thinking of abilities and points this world could have. "You have one thousand skill points available. You could use these points to acquire skills. The skill list for you is limited for being low level." An AI-like voice said. Acquire skills, uh? Think about it for a second: my choices are either burn the points for food, acquire Appraisal, base strength, evolve, or low-level poison synthesis.
The choice is obvious. I choose Appraisal! "You have acquired appraisal level 1." Hell yeah, this skill sounds super boosted. It sounds like the skill that appraises things like enemies or places, in which case I might be able to figure out where I am. And so, I used my super-busted OP skill on the first thing I had before me until the voice came back and spoke. "Shell" Uh? Duh, ahah, what did I expect? It's just my shell, after all. Okay, let's try something else, like myself, appraisal! "Scorpion" Ahaha, very funny.
I panicked, appraising things like rocks and the place's walls, but the voice kept going. "Rock, boulder, wall, rock, stone." This couldn't be for real. I traded one thousand skill points for this useless crap? I would have been better with the food trade. Walking around some more, I eventually found other monsters like me. I was in deep trouble. Knowing that I am a scorpion now, seeing my first monsters on my way, being spiders, terrified me. Spiders are the natural predators of small insects, and I am one of those. Aside from a spider web, they looked much more volumptious than me, at least three times my size.
Goddamit, I was screwed. If I wanted to catch any prey and eat, I would have to find a smaller insect than me to pinch them and inject my poison with my tail. So, instead of walking to my death into the spiders. I walked back and chose another route. On this second route, a taller cave connected to it. This cave was much broader and more elevated, but only by a little. In this passage, I soon found dinner. Uhm, Yummy Polly Rollies. Well, not really. The polly rolly I got tasted so bad. It was extremely bitter and chewy. It felt like starving to death wasn't a bad option once I took a bite out of it.
Still, my desire to become this world's ultimate predator kept me going. I was going to become super powerful and become the supreme ruler of this world. That and my desire to kill people freely drove me even more. That was precisely why I wanted to come to a fantasy world. As in here, who would stop me if I became super strong? There would be nobody to stop me ever! Ahahaha, Ew, this dinner is awful.
