"The Divine Beast's auspicious aura protects me, so common poisons can't harm me. However, this particular poison is a bit challenging for me; it's incredibly potent. I suspect Tang Hao gave it to him," Xu Ran said softly, so only he and Xiao Wu could hear him. For the time being, he didn't want Tang San to know his father was a Titled Douluo.
"So, what do we do now?" Xiao Wu, relieved that Xu Ran was unharmed, still asked anxiously.
"I'll start by expelling the poison," Xu Ran replied. He found a sheltered spot from the rain and sat down cross-legged, pretending to channel his energy. Soon after, Xiao Wu saw waves of heat emanating from Xu Ran's body, as if the dark-colored vapor was being forced out from within him.
"Tang San, why haven't you left yet? What are you planning? Are you still thinking of attacking us?" Xiao Wu asked cautiously, her eyes warily fixed on Tang San. Tang San's covert use of hidden weapons had nearly cost her and Xu Ran their lives. She dared not underestimate him; otherwise, she wouldn't even know how she died.
"Xiao Wu, Xu Ran hasn't been injured at all. He's been deceiving us. And I never intended to harm you. It's Xu Ran who's playing games, trying to sabotage our relationship," Tang San said, his heart breaking as he looked at Xiao Wu's defensive expression. The Xiao Wu who used to be inseparable from him was now treating him as if he were an enemy. How could his heart not ache?
"Deceiving us? Ha, do you think I'd still believe your lies, Tang San? Did Xu Ran also tell you to use those hidden weapons?"
"I've always wondered why you're such a prodigy, even unnaturally so. You were able to craft such intricate techniques at just six years old. Do you think I'd ever naively believe you?"
"You have these hidden weapons to kill me, don't you?" Xiao Wu sneered, her voice turning icy cold. These weapons were gifts from Tang Hao to Tang San, intended for use in emergencies—so he would have the means to kill her. If he couldn't obtain the spirit ring, he could at least take the spirit bone.
Tang San had orchestrated everything flawlessly, but to her, Xiao Wu, his actions were crystal clear.
"Kill you? No, no, Xiao Wu, you should know how I feel about you. I've always been kind to you, cherishing you every moment. How could I bear to harm you?"
"What I want is to kill Xu Ran. Ever since he came into our lives, he's been relentlessly sabotaging our relationship. My feelings for you have always been genuine. The one who's been acting deceitful is Xu Ran! Xu Ran is nothing but a despicable and shameless scoundrel," Tang San said hurriedly, moving towards Xiao Wu.
It started to rain, and he wanted to take Xiao Wu home.
"Don't you dare speak ill of Xu Ran. You're the deplorable one here, yet you're trying to throw mud on him. Your true colors have been exposed, and you're still putting on an act? How can there be someone like you in this world?" Xiao Wu retorted sharply, infuriated upon hearing Tang San slander Xu Ran. Xu Ran was the man willing to risk his life for her, the one she valued most now. Tang San couldn't even begin to compare with him.
Her eyes turned red, and her martial spirit was released in an instant. Two yellow spirit rings circled her body. She propelled herself towards Tang San's position.
Lifting her slender leg, she aimed a kick at Tang San's head.
"Ah!" Tang San cried out in pain. Caught off guard, he was sent flying by Xiao Wu's kick.
"Xiao Wu, what are you doing? You actually attacked me?" Tang San landed on the ground, clutching his cheek that had been struck by her leg. He felt a burning pain. Xiao Wu had not held back at all.
"Attack you? Ha, if it weren't for certain considerations, I'd genuinely want to kill you right here and now," Xiao Wu coldly stated, looking at the familiar figure before her with deep-seated animosity.
If it weren't for the fear of invoking Tang Hao's wrath, she would have killed Tang San the moment she learned the truth. Why would she have let him live until now?
"Xiao Wu, there must be some misunderstandings between us. About Xu Ran..." Tang San looked at her anxiously, trying to explain. But Xiao Wu stepped on his face, silencing him with her foot.
Tang San's eyes widened, his face flushed. He tried to struggle, but Xiao Wu pinned down his hands as well.
As he looked at that familiar silhouette, he saw a cold gaze filled with murderous intent. His heart ached; just days ago, Xiao Wu had been gentle and affable, but now she had transformed into this. She showed no mercy, grinding her foot into his cheek with force.
He saw hatred in Xiao Wu's eyes.
Had Xiao Wu started to hate him?
Was it simply because he had harmed Xu Ran that she now harbored such animosity toward him?
Subjected to such treatment from Xiao Wu, Tang San could take it no longer. Tears streamed down from his eyes.
In the realm of human experience, there's hardly anything more agonizing than this.
The one he deeply loved had raised her hand against him, shattering Tang San's heart into pieces.
He desperately wanted to tell Xiao Wu the truth but didn't know where to begin. He couldn't fathom why Xiao Wu had turned into this person, harboring such suspicion and hate against him. What exactly was her identity? Why did she adamantly believe that he was out to harm her?
For roughly an hour, Tang San lay beneath Xiao Wu's feet, his body stiffening against the cold ground. His eyes, devoid of any spark, watched her, as if he were a neutered cat resigned to its fate.
He had the power to rise, given that his strength wasn't inferior to Xiao Wu's. However, his spirit was crushed. The feeling of rain soaking into his body provided some relief, a slight alleviation of his torment.
At that moment, Xu Ran had expelled all the "poisons" from his body and arrived next to Xiao Wu, looking down contemptuously at Tang San.
"Tang San, I had long suspected that once your true colors were revealed, you'd act against us. I've been wary of you. But I never thought you'd have the audacity to even strike Xiao Wu. Had I not found out in time, Xiao Wu would likely be dead by now. You really are cold-hearted," Xu Ran said, his eyes full of disdain.
Upon seeing Xu Ran, Tang San's already ashen face flushed crimson. He began to struggle wildly, wanting to rise and lash out at Xu Ran.
Xu Ran was too deceitful. It was he who had taken action, creating a false impression that Tang San wanted to kill Xiao Wu.
The hidden weapon was originally aimed at Xu Ran, but as Xu Ran moved around while holding Xiao Wu, the trajectory of the weapon shifted toward her.
