“Eric? What are you doing in here?” I ask, dropping Marcus’ hand on instinct, stepping into the room. Marcus follows me, equally confused as to why there is another man in my bedroom.

“Hey, Jules, sorry. I had to take a phone call and came into the house for some privacy. Then I kind of got distracted, old memories and all,” Eric says with a shrug. He looks at Marcus and me, slightly suspicious, but I ignore it.

“Feeling nostalgic?” I ask, teasing him, but he nods a little.

“It’s a little different since this isn’t your room, but I noticed the room you usually stay in has been stripped. The wood floor looks nice,” Eric says, trying painfully to avoid addressing the situation in front of him.

“I was surprised, but yeah, it does. Pipe burst,” I say as an explanation to both men, not remembering who I had told that to before.
