I woke up to an empty bed. Demyan's once warm spot completely empty and cold. I took in a deep breath and rolled onto my back as I looked up to the ceiling fan that slowly whirled about. The window was closed and I could see from the bright sky that it must have been early afternoon. 

The temperature had definitely risen by how hot and sticky I felt. What a welcomed difference it was from the England weather. I could hear slight clunking from downstairs from what sounded like the kitchen and by the wonderful smell wafting through the space Demyan must have been preparing lunch.

I sat up from the bed, stretched a bit before I climbed off then went to the bathroom. I took a cold shower and scrubbed my body to take off the layer of sweat then spent some time trimming my beard. It always became unbearable in this heat.
