"Good morning," Sonia greeted Max with a smile. "How are you feeling?"
"Good," Max replied as he stretched his arms. "I feel refreshed. It's been a while since I've felt this way."
"That's great to hear," Sonia said. "We were all worried about you after your encounter with Sentinel."
Max nodded. "I appreciate your concern. Sentinel was a tough opponent, but I managed to deal with it."
"We're glad you're safe," Sonia said. "We've been discussing our next steps. We've decided to focus on developing the Multiverse Door. It's our best chance of survival in this world."
"I agree," Max said. "The Multiverse Door is our best hope for the future. We need to do everything we can to make it a reality."
"Absolutely," Sonia said. "We'll do whatever it takes to help you succeed."
Max smiled. "Thank you, Sonia. Your support means a lot to me."
Sonia smiled back. "We're all in this together. We'll get through this, no matter what."
With that, Max and Sonia continued to discuss their plans for the future, determined to overcome the challenges that lay ahead.
"It feels familiar," Max remarked with a smile.
Sonya's expression softened into a sweet smile. "It does feel like it's been a long time..."
"It's because so much has happened during this time," Max concurred.
Just as it was when she first encountered them, Sonya settled in beside him, patiently awaiting his awakening.
As Max sat up, he gestured to the others, prompting them to gather around.
"A single Sentinel isn't too difficult to handle. It can be managed by a group of several people. However, if their numbers swell, it could pose a bit of a challenge. We're also unsure if Sentinel has acquired the ability to replicate Mutant abilities during combat," Max explained.
"Currently, we have three objectives. Firstly, we need to ascertain if Sentinel is evolving. If it's capable of replicating our abilities, we should avoid direct confrontation to prevent it from acquiring more powers. Secondly, I have someone I want to rescue. And finally, we need to speed up the gene integration process," he continued.
"In essence, these three objectives are interconnected. I intend to take a few individuals with me."
"Is there any danger involved?" Viper inquired.
Max shook his head. "No, and if we're fortunate, it might even hinder Sentinel's evolution."
After surveying the group, Max addressed them decisively. "Lauren, Sonia, Kitty, the three of you will accompany me."
"Do we need to bring Lorna or Blink?" Viper asked.
Max shook his head in response.
"Understood. When do you expect to return?" Viper queried.
"It depends on the circumstances. Ideally, when I return, I'll be able to open the door to a new world directly," Max replied with a smile.
With that, Max rose and made his way to the villa, eyeing the trucks parked nearby, one of which was loaded with the silver samurai armor.
"That settles it," he declared.
Recruiting Roar, the three of them boarded the vehicle and set off swiftly.
Inside the car, Kitty glanced at Lauren and then at Sonya, her demeanor slightly awkward. "Where are we headed?"
Max cast a playful glance at Kitty. "Nervous? I recall you were all in favor when Viper proposed earlier, weren't you?"
"I... I don't have one," Kitty said in a low voice, avoiding eye contact.
The three people mentioned by Max could probably guess what was going to happen. However, Max felt a bit awkward saying it so directly at the moment, and Kitty certainly didn't expect Max to choose her.
"If you're having second thoughts, it's too late now. You must be there this time," Max said.
Kitty wanted to ask why Max didn't choose Lorna, but after some thought, she felt too embarrassed to bring it up.
Seeing Kitty's silence, Max smiled and said, "Let's hit the road."
"Me? But I don't know where we're going?" Kitty asked, genuinely surprised.
Max shook his head, "No, only you know where we are going."
As the car came to a stop and they switched positions, Kitty still seemed a bit bewildered.
"The Xavier Institute."
"Only you should know where we are."
"The Xavier Institute? What is that?" Lauren asked, curiosity evident in her voice.
"That was a school established by Professor X, and it also served as the base for X-Men. However, the school disbanded later and was forcibly closed by the government," Kitty explained. "You mentioned saving people – is someone being held there?"
Max nodded, "A crucial person."
"Who?"
"You'll find out soon enough," Max said with a smile.
Who could be imprisoned in The Xavier Institute?
