章節 16: Rubeus Hagrid
Saturday, 10th September 1988
Early after breakfast, I made my way to the little hut on the grounds.
Before I could knock, I hear his voice from his little pumpkin farm behind the shack.
"Blimey, I can't stand it. Why do all of 'em only feed off o' my pum'kins?"
"Trouble with vermins, sir?", I ask him.
"Huh?! Sorry lad didn't see you 'ere. Shouldn't curse so loud. But yeah, whether there 're gnomes,
snails or crows. All of 'em eat my pum'kins.", he complains.
"Well I ain't a professional about them, but for crows a net over the field or a scarecrow should work.
Snails could be cast aside with Slug pellets or a saltring around the farm.
Bur aside the to known forms of de-gnoming, I don't know another one, sorry."
" 'ready used a scarecrow, but m'ybe I could try a net. I buy reg'larly pellets, but those ain't cheap.
Sure salt also works, boy?", he questions.
"It should, sir. They don't like it, because they dry faster, but you need to replace it if the wind takes it away."
" Th'nks. By the way, no need for Sir. Can call me Hagrid."
" Nice to meet you. My name is Nicholas, but you can use the shortform Nici if you like. Do you need help with the de-gnoming?", I introduce myself.
"Sure would be appreciated. 'ose things are to fast for me."
"Then why don't you use a jarvey, Hagrid."
A jarvey is a big ferret that is the natural animals of gnomes and a prefered pet of housewives and gardeners, who don't have a problem with a little blood.
"Would love to keep one, but the school says they disapprove of 'ose methods at school.", he says dejectedly.
"What if one came from the forest to de-gnome your garden, if you understand what I mean?"
"Couldn't keep it away from inspections, now could I."
"No you can't."
He looks sad.
"But I have a solution, if you can keep silent about it."
"Does it endanger the school or students?" "No." " 'kay then."
Then I use my pouch to make it seem my kneazles exit from it.
"I introduce you to Mani and Asteria, our hunting assistants."
"How cuuute!", he exclaims. I ask the both through the link if they want to hunt some gnomes.
So we used the time till lunch with hunting gnomes. The kneazles find and surround them, I pick them up with gloves and spin them, before Hagrid throw them in the direction of the forest as far as he can, so I don't know if they survive their first flying lesson.
In the afternoon we talked about different magical beasts while he brew some tea for us, but I wouldn't pick the scones that were harder than bricks.
I made a new friend, although it may be concerning that my third friend after Claire and Cedric is a middle-aged man. I should probably make some friends in my age group in the coming years.
He said I'm welcome anytime. My pets included. Sure would be fun to compare the height of Fluffy and Anluan.
Mani and Asteria really seem to like to hunt the little fellows. Some time outside my 'Dimensional Home' appears to be good for them, even though the space inside expanded to 4 squarekilometers in the last years and the roomheight increased to 10 meters. Maybe I arrange one hour daily to let my pets exercise outside. But where and when is a good question. Before breakfast has the smallest amount of activity in the castle, because a lot of students like to sleep as long as possible. The problem is a place big enough for Anluan outside the eyes of the teachers. I think the Forbidden Forest is warded and I ain't strong enough yet to go there. The quidditch pit is viewable from some of the towers, so no there. The unused classrooms are an option, but from what I've seen till now not big enough for Anluan to exercise in.
But then I remembered a certain room on the 7th floor that nobody should know about at the moment aside from a quiet ghost. There I could go even at other times.
Maybe I should pay it a visit.
But first, sunday was used for the little amount of homework I hadn't done before,
so I had to wait till the next week to go there.
