章節 72: Chapter 72: Fire Dragon VS Red Dog!

With the two of them at the center, half of the square was engulfed in their confrontation. Even from a distance, one could keenly feel the astonishing heat radiating from the clash. The fiery ball of flames directly melted the solid square ground beneath it.

In the midst of this blazing inferno, Akainu's expression underwent a drastic change as his attacks were completely disintegrated within moments.

In the next instant, a colossal dragon claw continued its unrelenting trajectory, imprinting itself on Akainu's chest, causing him to let out a deep groan. He was sent hurtling through the air, much to the astonishment of onlookers.

People watching the battle in the square observed a figure rocketing out of the fiery maelstrom like a cannonball.

"Look, isn't that...?"

"It's Admiral Sakazuki!"

Someone recognized the figure propelled backward, but they were taken aback by the sight. It was a Admiral , the pinnacle of the Navy's combat power, and yet he had been sent flying so spectacularly, and he looked far from unscathed.

Just how formidable was Lieutenant General Kahn?

Their minds raced as they grappled with the sheer power on display.

"Look at the direction General Sakazuki is flying!"

Some observant sailors noticed something amiss and directed their gaze elsewhere. Marines and others followed their line of sight.

Their complexions turned pale as they watched Akainu's trajectory.

This wasn't toward the Navy headquarters building, was it?

Tension filled the air as everyone braced for impact.

At that moment, a massive ice wall materialized, intercepting Akainu's soaring path. The high-speed momentum of the magma-powered Akainu nearly shattered the thick ice wall.

Aokiji's expression also shifted.

"This is indeed terrifying power."

As an icy aura emanated from his body, several ice walls formed in quick succession. Akainu broke through three ice walls in a row before coming to a stop.

"It's Admiral Aokiji!"

"Great! Crisis averted."

The clash between magma and ice gave rise to a tremendous reaction. The evaporating water vapor shrouded the entire square, veiling it in a dense fog.

But the peace was shattered by a deafening roar.

"Kahn, you stubborn old man!"

At the opposite end of the square, Akainu, having come to a halt, erupted once more, his magma powers surging with newfound intensity. The evaporated water vapor dissipated almost instantly.

The red dog reappeared, looking even more disheveled than before, the corner of his justice cloak missing. His red shirt was torn open, and the blue seagull emblem was replaced by a colossal paw print from Kahn's previous attack. There was also blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, although his injuries appeared far from life-threatening.

It was evident that, as a Navy admiral and a natural-element user, his defense was formidable.

Kahn, on the other hand, was similarly unscathed. Ablaze with intense flames, his entire body was bathed in a column of fiery light that shot straight into the sky. The last traces of water vapor vanished from the square.

Kahn slowly ascended from the massive pit that had formed earlier, where the extreme heat had liquefied the stone slabs beneath his feet.

"Magma brat, I may be getting old, but I can still give you a beating."

Without a doubt, Kahn's words provoked Akainu once more.

"Red magma dog!"

Akainu's right fist expanded rapidly, and he charged upwards at high speed, imbuing his attack with tremendous power.

Kahn's expression darkened. "It seems that you ahave underestimated this old man."

The flames that had receded from his hands reignited, this time coalescing around Kahn's hands. "Red Lotus Explosion."

However, before Kahn could fully unleash his attack, a graceful figure dashed across the square at blinding speed. Her presence exuded a terrifying aura, marked by the manifestation of Conqueror's Haki.

The elegant woman's long, white legs crackled with blood-red lightning.

At the same time, she exuded a terrifying aura.

The long white legs were filled with blood-red lightning.

"Mero Mero Kick!"

Akainu's complexion changed drastically as he sensed imminent danger. In mid-air, he adjusted the direction of his attack, but it was too late. The massive magma fist collided with the Pirate Empress, Hancock, who had sprinted to accumulate her strength.

In this collision, Hancock held the advantage. Although her control of Conqueror's Haki was not yet perfected, she still managed to send Akainu flying.

Akainu landed in the farther square, creating yet another sizable crater.

Such a spectacle left everyone present in awe.

"Pirate Empress, you're courting death!" Akainu declared as he rose to his feet once more. This time, he emitted an aura of intense fury.

It was a tremendous embarrassment for him, the Navy admiral and the pinnacle of the Navy's combat power, to be at a disadvantage in a confrontation with a woman.

While it was partly due to the suddenness of the attack, Akainu found it hard to accept.

His entire body assumed elemental form, with his right hand morphing into a magma dog.

"The Dog Gnaws the Red Lotus!"

The Pirate Empress appeared unyielding, her body surrounded by crackling lightning generated by her Conqueror's Haki.

Kahn's expression remained stern. The flames that had encased his hands reignited once more, and the lightning danced upon them.

An overwhelming aura locked onto Akainu.

"Red Lotus Explodes Thunder."

"Stop! Kahn, Sakazuki, both of you, cease this at once!" A resounding shout echoed through the square.

A powerful aura enveloped the entire area, marking another surge of Conqueror's Haki.

Everyone who could still stand turned their attention to the source of this commanding presence.

"It's Fleet Admiral Sengoku! It's Fleet Admiral Sengoku!" A sea soldier exclaimed with excitement.

The three combatants halted their actions.

Akainu came to a stop just in time.

His massive magma fist vanished, and he plummeted, narrowly missing the Navy headquarters building.

Aokiji had been ready to intervene but refrained when he sensed the fleet admiral's arrival.

On Kahn's side, the flames that had enveloped his hand extinguished instantly, while the lightning remained conspicuous.

The Yellow Monkey, standing nearby, wiped his forehead, beads of sweat forming as he heaved a sigh of relief.

"Terrifying! Thankfully, it ended."

Evidently, much like Aokiji, he had been prepared to intervene.

However, he felt that the pressure on his side had been greater.

Kahn's previous attack was not so easy to intercept.

With their movements stilled, the three admirals breathed collective sighs of relief.

What followed was an array of profound questions.

Why had Admiral Akainu engaged in combat with Vice Admiral Kahn?

Why had the Pirate Empress, Hancock, become involved?

What exactly had transpired in the brief time the Fleet Admiral Sengoku had left the scene?

Sengoku complexion darkened as he returned, and his gaze held a mix of anger and disappointment.

He had only stepped away for a short time, yet such a tumultuous situation had unfolded in his absence.

He glared fiercely at Kahn, resentment burning in his eyes.

This old man! He was utterly outrageous.

Then, his gaze shifted to Sakazuki.

Previously, he had been concerned about a direct confrontation between the two sides, which is why he had separated them. But now, such measures seemed futile.
