章節 55: Chapter 55 : Kahn VS Marco and Jozu!
The pressure emanating from Kahn took Marco and Jozu by surprise.
In hindsight, it made sense. How could someone capable of defeating Ace be a simple opponent? Even White Beard had spoken of Kahn with a tinge of reverence, proving that the man before them was no ordinary foe.
Interrupting himself mid-sentence, Kahn continued with what he had been saying.
"Given that, I've decided. I'll beat you both half to death before taking the money!"
"What a load of nonsense, old Navy man!" Jozu shouted immediately.
Simultaneously, his body began to change color.
Jozu was Diamond Jozu – he could transform any part of his body into diamond, granting him unparalleled physical defense.
He charged forward without hesitation.
"Sparkling Clash!"
Kahn's pupils contracted.
Jozu 's speed was astonishing. In the blink of an eye, he was in front of Kahn.
Yet Kahn reacted almost instantaneously.
Fiery flames erupted from his right fist, spreading intense heat.
"Iron Fist of the Fire Dragon!"
Kahn's fist collided with Jozu 's shoulder.
The impact between them caused the ground to crater instantly, generating a massive shockwave radiating from their point of contact.
The collision between flames and diamonds was ferocious right from the start.
Amidst this clash, Marco noticed something.
There was an issue.
Kahn, in his current state, was nearly as powerful as Jozu . In fact, he might even be stronger. Jozu had initiated the attack, lunging with half his body transformed into his signature diamond form. It was a powerful move, but Kahn had stood his ground and parried it effortlessly.
"Not bad. You're the first one to face my attack head-on without being blown away," Kahn's praise was sincere. Diamond Jozu was the first to withstand his assault without being repelled. Admittedly, this was partly due to the fact that Kahn hadn't encountered many opponents of Jozu 's caliber.
His praise, however, only served to infuriate Jozu further.
Meanwhile, Marco's attack had arrived.
"Crane Claw!"
Marco moved with remarkable speed.
Kahn, however, was equally swift.
The moment Marco landed, Kahn spread his arms.
"Claw of the Fire Dragon."
His arms transformed into draconic claws, intercepting Marco's attack in an instant.
On the other side, Diamond Jozu seized the opening and lunged forward.
But Kahn wasn't about to let him.
He began inhaling rapidly, his chest expanding as a powerful fire built within him.
"Roar of the Fire Dragon!"
A beam of fiery light shot out and struck Jozu instantaneously.
Caught off guard, Jozzy was engulfed in flames.
The intense fire overwhelmed him.
"Jozu!" Marco and Ace called out in concern.
"Don't mind him. Focus on me!" Kahn's words snapped Marco out of his concern.
At the same time, Kahn's attack was heading for Marco.
"Wing Strike of the Fire Dragon."
Kahn's hands turned into dragon-like wings, creating a maelstrom of flames.
Instantaneously, Marco was knocked down, carving a large crater into the island.
Up until this point, Kahn was clearly dominating the battle.
A substantial gap still separated the Deputy Emperor from the true Four Emperors.
But Kahn wasn't underestimating his opponents.
He had noticed something important.
His attack hadn't inflicted any significant damage on them.
Both Marco and Jozu looked at Kahn from their positions on the ground. Their expressions shifted as they realized something.
Kahn, still in the air, transformed into a 100-meter dragon.
"Is he joking? That's a massive body!" Marco was taken aback.
"What kind of Devil Fruit is this?" Jozu asked.
But neither received an answer.
Kahn was already preparing his next attack.
The roar from his human form was nothing compared to the roar in this form. The powerful inhalation created a vortex in front of his mouth, and a massive fireball gathered within.
The expressions of both Marco and Jozu changed drastically. They could feel the devastating power of this impending attack.
"Roar of the Fire Dragon!"
A flame column ten times larger than before hurtled toward them.
"Damn! Is this old man trying to annihilate the island?" Marco cursed.
Afterward, a wave of green flames engulfed his body.
"Immortal Thistle."
A thick wall of green flames formed to shield the three of them.
Meanwhile, Diamond Jozu acted quickly to protect Ace.
An enormous explosion resounded as the flame tempest engulfed the island.
Kahn watched the aftermath with satisfaction.
In his peak state, using such a powerful attack didn't exhaust him significantly.
Of course, the outcome also depended on the opponents.
Compared to Hawkeye, there was still a considerable gap between these two before him.
The flame storm gradually subsided, revealing the state of the island.
Likewise, the condition of Marco and the others came to light.
The three were in disarray, their bodies bearing varying degrees of injuries.
Among them, Marco's condition was the most severe. He had taken Kahn's roar head-on.
At that moment, he was panting heavily, half-kneeling on the ground. The green flames that had engulfed his body were nearly extinguished.
Observing the surroundings, they were met with a scene of devastation. The small island they stood on appeared shaved off, and the area was a vision of purgatory. Enormous blackened pits pitted both sides of the island.
One of these charred scars stretched to the island's opposite end.
Aware of the extent of Marco's injuries, Ace and Jozu inquired about his condition.
"I'm fine. I won't die, but I can't fight for the time being. This guy is incredibly strong. I shouldn't have tried to face his attack head-on. I was too overconfident," Marco admitted, his voice still carrying a hint of unease.
The expressions on Ace and Jozu faces turned solemn.
"It's not your fault!" Ace blamed himself.
"Stop saying that. We're family!" Marco quickly reassured him.
"He's coming down."
Jozu 's announcement shifted the attention of all three.
They turned their gazes toward Kahn, who was descending rapidly from the sky before landing heavily on the ground.
He returned to his human form.
His cloak of justice fluttered in the wind.
Watching Kahn approach, Jozu seemed poised to attack.
"Jozu , don't fight. We're no match for him. He may have a gap with Dad, but he's still at that level," Marco cautioned.
Jozu 's expression changed.
But he fell silent as well.
"Have you finally realized the disparity between us?" Kahn's voice held a hint of amusement.
"You're qualified to make a deal with Dad. We've prepared the money on board. You can take it. But you'll need to provide us with the key to Ace's Seastone handcuffs," Marco declared.
Kahn's laughter resonated, but the sound carried an unsettling tone.
Such hearty laughter, however, only deepened the frowns of the three pirates.
"Are you thinking of breaking your promise?" Marco's face soured.
If the Navy before them reneged on their agreement, they would be in grave danger.
And then, with a resonant voice, Kahn spoke words.
