章節 33: Chapter 33 : This old man is in love with gambling and drugs!

"No, Lieutenant General Kahn, I've decided to stay."

Kahn's brows furrowed at Cobra's unexpected decision. Even Koza and the others seemed taken aback by this declaration.

"Are you sure about this?" Kahn asked, his tone skeptical.

"I am. As the king of this country, I believe I should show trust in my subjects."

Kahn's skepticism lingered, and he retorted, "Naive. Do you honestly think they'll start trusting you just because you stay?"

Cobra didn't immediately respond, his determination evident.

"Your decision, I suppose. But don't think that this will make them trust you more," Kahn added, his tone laced with cynicism.

"Thank you, Lieutenant General Kahn, for understanding," Cobra replied, his gratitude genuine.

Kahn rolled his eyes at Cobra's expression of gratitude, "Yeah, understood. Just make sure you've got enough money. I won't take on jobs like this in the future. Too much trouble, not enough money!"

Cobra was taken aback by Kahn's blunt remark.

With his decision made, Cobra's mind was set, and even Kahn's sarcastic remarks didn't sway him.

With the situation clarified, Koza addressed the group, "Alright, you all heard that. Let's make our way to the capital and hope that the truth will be unveiled there."

However, before the group could make any further moves, Kahn interjected, "Hold on. You're all going, but I have to say this – if anything happens to him while I'm gone, I'll hunt every last one of you down."

Kahn's words struck fear into the hearts of those present, reminding them of the immense power the navy wielded.

Witnessing their reactions, Kahn seemed satisfied with his intimidation tactics.

"Alright, enough chatter. Get ready to leave. I assume I've dealt with the immediate problem here. What a hassle!" Kahn declared.

"Thank you very much, Lieutenant General Kahn," Koza expressed his gratitude.

"Thank you, but just be ready with more money. I won't be taking on jobs like this again. Trouble doesn't pay enough," Kahn replied, showing his pragmatic side.

Cobra's expression was a mix of shock and concern at Kahn's words, revealing the financial aspect of this ordeal.

As the group made their preparations to leave, Kahn's attention shifted to the sky, sensing that he had forgotten something.

Meanwhile, at the rebel base, Cobra found himself pondering, "Does Lieutenant General Kahn know where Rainbase is?"

Two hours later, as Kahn flew through the skies, he noticed the distinctive pattern of a town below.

However, he soon realized that he had initially set off in the wrong direction. His encounter with Crocodile had caused him to lose track of his destination.

Though he had wasted two hours, Kahn reminded himself that he still had the upper hand, having arrived ahead of Crocodile by a considerable margin.

Although evening had descended, the sky remained illuminated.

"Look! What's that?" someone exclaimed in surprise.

"A giant dragon?"

"It's coming down, and it seems to be heading towards us."

As the crowd watched in astonishment, Kahn transformed back into his human form and descended onto the street.

The onlookers, initially wary, were puzzled by Kahn's military uniform.

Ignoring the curious gazes, Kahn focused his attention on the tallest building in town – a lavish establishment crowned by a massive crocodile sculpture.

With evening setting in, the lights atop the building had already been switched on, giving it an even more opulent appearance.

"What a display of luxury," Kahn mused to himself, not without a hint of satisfaction.

Inside the casino, emotions ran high – cheers of triumph and cries of despair intermingled.

Observing the scene, Kahn couldn't help but shake his head. "Many in this country go without food, yet the business here thrives."

"Isn't this the reality of the world?" he mused, only to be interrupted by a voice.

"Is that a dragon? Now it's human?"

"And he's dressed as a navy officer?"

"What's the navy doing here?"

"No idea!"

As the chatter died down, Kahn shifted his gaze and found himself face to face with Robin, who was clad in denim.

As a member of the Straw Hat Pirates, Robin's calm demeanor belied the turmoil she felt within. She had already been informed of the day's events.

Never could she have imagined that a navy lieutenant general would wield such immense power, surpassing even Crocodile himself.

Robin's mind raced as she contemplated the unexpected turn of events. Why would a navy officer target Crocodile? Why extort such a significant sum of money? These questions loomed in her thoughts.

Kahn took a deep drag from his cigarette and exhaled slowly before answering, a tinge of bitterness in his voice, "The purpose of my visit to Rainbase? It's quite simple, actually. I've got an itch for gambling and drugs, just like everyone else."
