The next day when Norris woke up, she was still asleep in his arms.

With her arms wrapped around his waist, her whole body curled up on his chest, her little face was flushed with sleep, looking as innocent as could be.

Trenton Smith lifted the blanket, intending to get out of bed, but Norris still held onto him.

"Let go," he said, lifting his hand to pat her cheek.

Norris opened her eyes groggily, the early hour still upon them. Even the war-torn city seemed somewhat peaceful, with the clear sound of bird song coming from outside the window.

"I'm going to buy breakfast," said Trenton Smith as he put on his coat, "You keep sleeping."

Norris turned over and was soon asleep again.

Trenton Smith looked at her oblivious expression and silently sighed before he turned to open the door and leave.

Half an hour later, Trenton Smith returned from the street.

Two pieces of hard bread and two bags of fresh milk were their breakfast for the morning.
