Suddenly, she dropped her poker face from when she had first entered, replacing it with an inscrutable smile. She rose from her seat and moved between Nicholas Trent and Vice President Mason, picking up a bottle to pour a drink for the latter.
"My father didn't tell me who I was meeting today, so I had been rather dazed before this." She spoke with a sweet smile, "I only just got wind of it— You won't blame me for not getting it earlier, would you?"
When Suzanne Trent laughed, there was a soft sweetness in her features that was hard for any man to resist. Today, her complexion was somewhat pallid, which somehow made her all the more endearing. Looking so naive made Vice President Mason captivated in an instant.
"Not at all, Miss Trent is still young after all. Being too sensible would seem pretentious. This is just fine," Vice President Mason responded while laughing. He extended his hand to touch hers as she was pouring his drink.
