A sniff from my mom drew my attention to her. Her eyes were red from crying, indicating that I wasn't the only one whose emotions were all over the place.
"Isabel, get me some wipes," she requested.
Isabel quickly ran out and returned with the wipes. Mom took them and wiped her eyes and nose.
"Sydney," she called out once she was done.
"Yes, Mom?" I answered eagerly.
"You won't be getting transferred," she announced, her voice filled with a mix of relief and certainty.
"Really, Mom? Are you serious?" I asked, my heart racing with disbelief and joy.
"Yes, I have come to realize how caring and supportive your friends are," my mom remarked, a hint of gratitude in her tone.
"Thank you so much, Mrs. Raymond!" Rex exclaimed, almost jumping in joy.
Alex gently patted my shoulder, and Jude chimed in, "We are stuck together, forever."
I couldn't help but laugh. "Thank you, Mom," I said, pulling her into a warm hug.
