She could feel her hands sweating while they shook on her lap. She could hardly sit still as every second they sped on the freeway.

She had no idea where they were going, but it was not the way to the downtown area. So, wherever he was taking her, it was not the usual restaurant they had been before.

"Thanks for the flowers." Jules felt the deafening silence as suffocating. It was adding to her already agitated state. 

Therefore, when her eyes peeked on the large bouquet of red and white flowers in the backseat through the rearview mirror, she took that as her chance to speak.

"I don't know if you like red roses, so I added white lilies. I thought it looked magnificent. I hope you like it." Damon seemed calm compared to her as his eyes had stayed focused on the road. 

She could not see any signs of anxiousness in his movements. His hands were not shaking on the steering wheel, and his voice had no tremor.
