"Where is Uncle Dale?" Her son asked, perhaps noticing he was gone as they exited the store where he bought the last materials on his list.

Thankfully, Dale finally relented and left when she told him in not-so-many words that she wished to be alone with her son.

She was not lying about that. She had been looking forward to this moment where they could be just them like the old times, the two of them against the world.

The odds were not usually in their favor, but they had, nevertheless, managed to survive and beat most of the challenges.

"Dale, I know what you are doing, and it is not helping our situation." She said in her low voice, avoiding letting her son overhear their conversation.

She knew Dale could be charming. And his natural kindness could lure many women into submission. Not to mention his charismatic appeal, it was hard to say no to him.
