What was he doing?

But when he saw the woman behind the mask, his heartbeat quickened. His instinct told him that he was not mistaken. 

That woman was unmistakenly her. He did not doubt that. He recognized her smile even if a mask covered half her face. He would still know her from a mile away.

Besides, he was aware of his brother's plans. He had heard about Damon's interest in the McLarren's account. Therefore, he already concluded his brother and his new bride would never miss this prestigious event.

"What is going on, Dale?" She heard her voice. It hardly changed since he last saw her. At least in his mind, it was still the same. It was sweet and kind.

However, it also made him think. 

She was right. 

What was he doing, dragging her away from the party and into this room? What did he believe he would accomplish by forcing her to go with him?
