章節 7: An old friend part 2

Aster was running around the perimeter of the hospital for his training. He made it his personal goal to continue to do this training routine every day until he became strong enough to one hit some monsters.

"Let's take a break" he panted.

After a quick drink, he observed his surroundings. There were skyscrapers, cars, and people in normal clothing everywhere. It looked just like any city from Earth except that there were a few differences here and there.

First of all, there was a huge, 50m wall all around the city. Second, there was a forcefield surrounding the entire city, blocking assault from monsters from above, the forcefield was invincible but it revealed itself every now and then when a stray bird, or at least something that looked like one, hit it. Third, there was so much greenery around such as trees and bushes.

Unlike Earth, where nobody was there to judge humans when they pillaged nature, this world has Dryads, Elves, spirits, and intelligent magic beasts. While humans have the right to do what they want to do in their territory without affecting nature, scoring a few brownie points with them has its merits.

There were a few minor details here and there that were also different. Cars used magic engines to operate rather than fuel and gasoline, humans had magic to effectively dispose of their trash, and elevators were replaced by teleportation circles.

Aster was thinking about how rivals in those anime help the main character and thought how the same applies to the humans on Gaia. The existence of other races helped humanity be united somewhat and not overstep their boundaries.

"Anyways, enough with this. I still have 2km left" He says before getting up and running once again.

Aster scoured the Maginet, which is like the internet, for some information the night before. He searched for settlements of the Earthlings and the whereabouts of his family but to no avail. He was getting a bit distressed since he literally had no visitors while he was in a coma which was bad.

"Do they even know I'm alive?" He thought while feeling a bit guilty.

For all he know, they were probably out there, being treated like shit by some scared scums or even outright dead.

He shook away his dark thoughts. When things become like this, he always worked out or researched magic and dungeons that he might visit someday.

It's been 3 weeks since Aster woke up. He stayed at the hospital even though he recovered completely since the fees were being paid by someone with authority and because he had nowhere to go.

He spent all of his time improving his existing skills, acquiring ones that might come in handy, and learning about the world.

The city he was staying in was called Capital Division 4 of a human kingdom named Elysium, there were 6 divisions in total and were stationed surrounding the Central Capital, dubbed just Capital, where the royal family of this kingdom resides.

The history of this kingdom went like this; There was a demon lord, a calamity-ranked threat. He raged war on the mother spirit Gaia for dominance over the planet. Almost every sentient species on the planet joined Gaia's side including humans while the demons and the undead joined the demon king. The war lasted for dozens of years at a standstill until the angels came, and joined the demons.

Aster was a bit confused on that part. Angels were supposed to be the anti-demon folk and it seems to be the case in this world too. He didn't get the full picture, but from what he could find out was that the progenitor Gods of the demons and the angels were married which makes the two races siblings.

All that the demon lord had to say to get the angels on his side was to say he was taking over the planet to honor their parents and the angels joined in on the bloodshed. They literally hated each other but they knew when to gang up.

With the Angels joining the game, the war becomes one-sided. A bunch of settlements from different races were destroyed and things were looking grim until the big guys intervened. The Elemental gods arrived.

The incarnations of the primordial elements: Fire, Wind, Water, Earth, and Lightning, and the incarnations of the grand elements; Light and Darkness came. Hell even the progenitor elements: Time and Space sent their own proxies which were Life and Death.

The 9 elements chose 9 candidates to become heroes, 7 of whom were humans, something some races are salty about, one dragon, and one spirit. Long story short, they beat the demon lord and the lead seraph. The 7 humans created a kingdom separate from their home Dynasty and called it Elysium, the kingdom Aster was staying in. The Dynasty and the Elysium are in a cooperative relationship and accept each other as equals. Elysium has 7 parts of the capital each being governed by the descendants of the heroes

Soon Aster reached the hospital gate. Feeling sore from all the exercises, he went to his room, sat on the bed, and started practicing [Basic body strengthening].

A couple of hours later, a black limbo stopped right outside the hospital's gate and a man stepped out of it.

Sun seems to have grown a little brighter with him around. He had brilliant golden hair that reached halfway his wide back, well-toned muscles that would be comparable to the physique of a literal god.

He calmly observed the hospital and his gaze stuck on a particular window. He walked inside the hospital and requested a meeting with a patient.

"Mr. Aster! Someone wants to meet you" Nurse Nightbell notified a young man sitting cross-legged on his bed. Immediately his eye sprung open and his iris immediately changed from bright green to his usual icy blue.

"Tell them I will be there soon," He says before getting up.

Aster looked around, his eyes wary. A few minutes ago, a giant behemoth of mana arrived at the hospital. If Aster were to put it in numerical value, it would be around 6 digits.

'It seems that bundle of mana is searching for me.' He calmly thought.

'Whoever has that much mana should be a pretty powerful mage class awakened, I wonder why would someone like that search for me?'

'My hospital fees were being paid by someone else so maybe it's that person?'

After sifting through possible answers, he got out of his room and walked towards the teleportation circle in the middle of the floor.

As soon as he stepped out of it, intense pressure assaulted him. It felt like his entire body was being crushed by a boulder. Immediately, he saw the person responsible for this pressure and was bamboozled by what he saw.

'What the hell? Someone like that is a mage? Seriously? I expected an old man in a robe' He thought.

"Uhh, Hello! I heard you were searching for me?" He said. He felt like falling over because of the pressure but he stood on his ground.

'I ain't fainting because of some pressure skill, screw off, whoever you are!' he thought and stared into the glasses of the person.

The staring contest lasted for a minute before the pressure subsided.

The man said "Long time no see, Aster"

Aster's brain immediately short-circuited. 'Long time no see? Have I ever met him before? No, no I didn't. He mistook me for someone else'. He felt relieved that he had nothing to do with this scary person.

"I think you mistook me for someone else" He politely said. Aster definitely did not want to offend this man.

"Don't recognize me huh? Well, this might help, I still think this whole thing is bullshit."

Aster's eyes immediately widened "BLAKE??? WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO YOU, DUDE?"

Aster was flabbergasted once again. 'This person is Blake??? He was the one who's been paying my fees? No, more than that, I thought he already hit his growth spurt so what the fuck is this? Do awakeners get a second growth spurt?'

As soon as Blake's name was mentioned, all eyes shifted to both of them. One person in particular was literally shaking.

'Blake? 'The Solar Lord' Blake? Oh my god, I should introduced myself' Nurse Nightbell thought before jumping in the middle of both of them.

"Hi, my name is Alice Nightbell. I'm 22 years old and I want to say, I'm a huge fa-"

"Lady, stay out of this." Aster suddenly pushed her away.

"Blake, what the hell happened? Why are you... even taller than before? Are you the 'Solar Lord' everyone keeps talking about?" He asked in an exasperated voice.

Nightbell was about to cuss him so bad that she would have acquired a cuss skill but then something registered in her mind.

'Why was he... talking as if he knew Blake? Wait a second... Blake is an Earthling, just like that scum. Are they acquaintances, friends? Is Blake the one who paid for his fees?'

"Sir Blake who is he?" She asked Blake, who was still silent.

"Oi, answer me?"

Blake slowly turned his head around and saw Nightbell and smiled.

"He's an... old friend of mine so I would appreciate it if you gave us some space."
