Pam laughed as she unlocked her bike and started it up before putting her helmet on, she then motioned me to follow her, and we rode at the legal pace. We eventually ended up at a building next to the Gotham River and I followed her into the parking garage. She pulled into a parking spot and locked up her bike again then approached me.
Pam, "Well Mr. Chivalry, I am home now and rather impressed with you on our first date. You took your loss in the race quite well, only stared at my body when I flaunted it, didn't try to take advantage to cop a feel. You even managed to keep that monster in your pants flaccid with my head resting on it. In addition, you let me handle those bikers instead of flying off your macho ladder. I hope you weren't put off by my life story, there is more to it but that comes with time." She leaned forward and gave me a quick kiss before backing off and saying, "I can't wait to see the next date you plan for us."
Logan was stunned for a moment at the kiss she snuck in on him, he didn't even get much of a chance to kiss her back. "I will plan the next one, but after that, it will be your turn to plan one." He pulled out of the parking garage and headed home for the night. Once Logan got home, he parked his bike and thought about going out for the night to pick up the slack of no Devilbat or Nightwing being around. I was beginning to worry as I knew Devilbat didn't like being away from Gotham long. Glancing back at his bike he noticed the saddle bags and it hit him [SHIT, I forgot to give Pam her gift. What an idiot! Oh well, I'll catch her at work tomorrow morning and give it to her. I bet her friend Luisa will be interested in seeing it also.]
-(Perspective shift)-
Pam watched as Logan drove out of her garage and then turned for the elevator. It was one of those old service-type lifts. She bought the building with the money she got for one of her Biotech patents and only refurbished the inside to allow a lot more sun into the building when it was actually sunny here in Gotham. She had all the lights changed to UV style so there were plenty of rays for her and her plants on cloudy days.
Ever since she came back from The Green and her guard duties there she had felt removed from human emotions. She wasn't sure she was even human anymore, and if she was a plant-human mix what part was dominant? She smiled as she thought of the woman calling herself April now. In a weird way, she had been... Not a mother but maybe a cool Aunt who told her how life really was. No sugar coating, just the bad and the worse sides of humanity here in Gotham. Humans are so complicated, even April.
I have always felt I was better off being by myself, humanity was so frail and limited. Yet they caused so much pain, I don't want anything like that in my life. Except, for Luisa. She knows I have a past, but she was still willing to give me a chance at the lab. Not everyone gets a second chance. Now I have a new life, a new home. Gotham Canal Point is an up-and-coming neighborhood near the water with plenty of space for my plants.
As Pam was thinking to herself, she walked into her large studio and started to undress with a happy look on her face. She didn't really feel comfortable in the synthetic material clothes were made of. She liked the way they made her look, but it just wasn't as comfortable as the living plants she wore at times. "I am home my lovelies!" She addressed the plants that shared her apartment, taking time to stop, talk to, and caress each plant. "Who needs human friends, I never really fit in the human world anyway. I have always had my experiments to keep me company before." Now she was speaking to three potted plants that were a new addition to the apartment.
"I am so glad I moved you three here from the lab. You seem to like it much better in my greenhouse." She bent down and kissed a strawberry-sized fruit on each plant, "Not taking any chances with you guys, too many morons like Winston in the Lab. Good night, sleep tight." With Louisa babysitting the fourth plant that we created with the fusion of the human and plant DNA. She is the only one there that I can trust. I will check in with her in the morning. I am sure she will want a step-by-step account of my date with Logan.
I always thought I didn't need anybody, but I always wished I had someone like me, and I think Logan is. She brushed her fingers over her lips and thought again how he had not been affected by the aphrodisiac she had used on him. If he had been affected then she would have slept with him, but then never thought of him again. Most guys thought that just by her looking them in the eyes meant she wanted to be taken to the nearest empty room and let them do as they wished with her body, disgusting things those men.
Logan though... "He was really different!" She smiled as she fell asleep and dreamt of a family of little green children.
Pam's eyes drowsily opened as she lay on her stomach in bed, she reached for her phone that was blinking with a message notification, to see it was from Logan. He always messaged her in the morning, and she had become used to his good morning messages. [Morning Gorgeous. I forgot to leave your first date gift with you, I will swing by your work around 9 unless you message me back not to. See you then.]
She chuckled at his forgetfulness but then admitted it was an eventful night, she still couldn't believe she opened up so much to him. She put her phone down and reached for the glass of water she always left for herself. She wasn't a fan of cold water first thing in the morning, so she always left some on her nightstand to get room temperature overnight.
"Oh, what a beautifully sunny morning, let's check on my babies... I'm sure you haven't grown mu..." Pam stopped and choked on her water. 2 of the 3 plants she brought home had gone from strawberry size to cantaloupe in just one night. They also had a soft red glow about them, and the leaves wrapped around the base protectively as they pointed the bulb towards the sun.
(That's. That's impossible, I know I didn't use my powers of The Green to help them grow. Luisa has got to be flipping over it if the one left with her went through the same growth spurt.) She quickly threw on whatever outfit was at hand and raced down to her motorcycle, not even wanting to wait for the elevator. She quickly unlocked her bike and sped towards the lab.
As she pulled in, she saw Luisa's car and was surprised she would be there so early. Maybe she pulled another all-nighter? Pam backed into her normal parking spot and calmly walked into the building. Waving at the security guard who said, "You're here early Dr. Isley."
Pam, "Yeah Fred, me and Dr. Cruz have a new experiment and I'm excited to see the results. I saw her car still in her parking spot, so I assume she pulled another all-nighter out of the same excitement."
Fred, "I haven't seen her, but I just took over an hour ago so I'm still doing the paperwork the night crew left. Haven't even done morning rounds yet."
Pam, "Well, I will see you when you do get to your rounds. Have a good morning. Also, Logan, the guy from yesterday will be stopping by to deliver something to me around 9. Just let him in when he gets here please." She moved towards the research lab in anticipation of all the questions Luisa would be asking. At least with the test results, she won't ask about my date right away. Pam was a little surprised that she wanted to share the results of her evening with Logan, she never thought she would feel the need to share something so personal with anyone.
Pam walked down the hallway to a door that Read Dr. Luisa Cruz and opened it, "Luisa, you didn't pull another all-nigh..." As she pushed the door open the light showed a broken red coffee cup with a yellow Smiley face. Pam pushed the door open more to see Luisa on the floor with green skin and blue lips indicative of poisoning. It appeared that when she fell, she knocked over the pot with our experiment specimen and it lay broken on the floor.
