章節 58: Onboard to the Wedding

Callahan stood in a room filled with anticipation, dressed in the magnificent suit-like armour that had been passed down through generations of Shadowglade's rulers. It was a momentous occasion, the day of his wedding to Princess Lyra, and he couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness.

Eamon, his best man and dear friend stood nearby, his attire a contrast to Callahan's elegant suit. Callahan couldn't help but tease him.

"Eamon, are you sure that suit was meant for you? It looks quite... unique."

"Well, it wasn't tailored for me, you know. Besides, it's the occasion that matters, not the attire," Eamon chuckled.

Callahan couldn't argue with that logic. He glanced at the heirloom armour he wore, a symbol of the unity between Faerundale and Shadowglade.

"Speaking of attire, I must say, Emperor Leander has quite a taste for these things."

"I can't argue more. This armour is a work of art. It symbolizes more than just a union of two people; it signifies the bond between our kingdoms as I wore it," Eamon nodded in agreement.

As Eamon spoke, he couldn't help but notice the armour part of Callahan's suit. It seemed like a regular piece of attire, but curiosity got the better of him. He lightly tapped it with his knuckles, testing its durability.

To both their surprise, the armour seemed to absorb the impact and then, almost as if it had a mind of its own, multiplied the force. Eamon was sent flying back, crashing into a nearby table with a loud thud. The room erupted in commotion, and the guards stationed outside hurried in, their expressions alarmed.

"Eamon! Are you alright?" Callahan quickly rushed over to Eamon's side, helping him up.

"I... I think so. And that armour definitely packs quite a punch," Eamon groaned as he got to his feet, rubbing his sore backside.

"What happened in here? Is everything alright, Prince Callahan?" One of the guards, a tall and burly, stepped forward, concern etched on his face.

"Oh, it was just a minor accident. Eamon here tripped and bumped into the table," Callahan exchanged a glance with Eamon, both of them realizing they needed to come up with an explanation.

"Yes, just a clumsy moment on my part. No need to worry, gentlemen," Eamon nodded, playing along.

"Very well, but do be careful, both of you. We wouldn't want any accidents happening to you, Prince Callahan of Faerundale, especially on this important day," the guards exchanged sceptical glances but ultimately nodded.

Callahan and Eamon assured the guards that they would be more careful and watched as they left the room, closing the door behind them.

"Well, that was unexpected. But damn, that suit has quite the surprise element, Cal," once they were alone again, Eamon couldn't help but chuckle, despite his aching backside.

"I always thought how it seems to have a mind of its own. Let's just hope it doesn't decide to take matters into its own hands during the ceremony," Callahan grinned, relieved that their little mishap had been resolved without raising any further questions.

"Won't want to interrupt this special moment, eh?" Eamon laughed heartily. "Either way, Cal, are you feeling nervous?"

"A bit, Eamon. But mostly, I just wish mother and father could be here to see this," Callahan's smile faded slightly as he looked out of the window at the bustling preparations below.

"I understand, but you know they can't leave Faerundale in its current state. You already spoke with them using your wind magic, remember? They're with you in spirit, Callahan.," Eamon placed a reassuring hand on Callahan's shoulder.

"Yes, you're right. I just wish they could witness this moment in person," Callahan nodded, his expression pensive.

"They'll be here in your heart, my friend. And in the hearts of everyone who loves you," Eamon squeezed his shoulder gently. "Plus, you'll be taking Princess Lyra to Faerundale afterwards right?"

"Well, I still have to talk about that with Emperor Leander," Callahan smiled gratefully at Eamon, grateful for his friendship and support. "Still, thank you, Eamon. Let's make this day one to remember."

"To a day of unity and celebration, my friend," Eamon, a bit hesitant to clap him on the back but did it in the end, echoing his determination. While Callahan didn't notice it, Eamon was relieved that the suit didn't send him flying for a second.

As they prepared to leave the room and make their way to the ceremony, both Faerans were filled with a sense of purpose and excitement. It was a day that would not only join two people in matrimony but also two kingdoms in a bond that would shape their future.

Empress Selene stood beside her daughter, Lyra, in the opulent chamber where the princess had just donned her breathtaking bridal gown. The gown was a vision of lace and silk, adorned with delicate embroidery and shimmering gemstones. It was a creation fit for a princess, and it draped elegantly over Lyra's figure, accentuating her beauty.

Lyra's hands trembled slightly as she adjusted the veil in the mirror. Her reflection revealed a mix of nervousness and excitement in her eyes. Beside her, Empress Selene placed a reassuring hand on her daughter's shoulder.

"You look absolutely stunning, Lyra," Empress Selene said with a warm smile. "Today is the beginning of a new chapter in your life, one filled with love and happiness."

"Empress Selene is right, Lyra. You are radiant," Amara, who had been helping with the preparations, nodded in agreement.

"Thank you, Mother, Amara. I just... I can't believe this day is finally here," Lyra offered a shaky smile, her heart still fluttering with nerves.

"It's perfectly normal to feel a little nervous, my dear. This is a day you'll remember for the rest of your life," Empress Selene leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on Lyra's forehead.

As mother and daughter shared a heartfelt moment, Empress Selene's composure wavered slightly. She had watched Lyra grow into a remarkable young woman, and now, she was about to embark on a new journey as a wife.

"I should go and join your father. We must be the first to arrive at the venue. Everything must be perfect," after a few more moments of encouragement, Empress Selene sighed softly.

"Thank you, Mother, for everything," Lyra nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.

Empress Selene smiled warmly and then made her way towards the door, leaving Amara and Lyra alone in the room.

"Amara, can I ask you something?" As the door closed, Lyra turned to Amara, her expression one of both anticipation and curiosity.

"Of course, Lyra. What's on your mind?" Amara, who had been meticulously straightening a few loose threads on Lyra's gown, looked up.

"What happened on that day you and Eamon disappeared? The day you found that puzzle piece and gave us the riddle for the Heartstone?" Lyra hesitated for a moment before she spoke.

"Well, Lyra, we stumbled upon something unexpected, something that we believed was a clue to finding the Heartstone," Amara's gaze softened as she recalled that eventful day.

"But why did you go to such lengths? Risking danger and adventure?" Lyra's curiosity deepened.

"Because, Lyra, I couldn't bear the thought of you carrying the burden of the prophecy alone. If there was even a chance that I could help, I wanted to be there for you," Amara met Lyra's gaze with unwavering determination.

"Amara, you've always been there for me. I don't know what I would do without you," Lyra's eyes welled up with emotion as she realized the depth of Amara's commitment.

"And I'll always be here for you, Lyra, no matter what," Amara smiled warmly, her heart touched by Lyra's words.

"So, what was the riddle you found that day? Now that I think about it, you never told me," After a moment of silence, Lyra's curiosity got the better of her, and she asked.

"I promise, Lyra, I'll tell you everything after the wedding. Right now, let's focus on this beautiful day and the love that surrounds it," Amara chuckled softly.

"You're right, Amara. Today is about love and unity. After the wedding, we can unravel the mysteries together," Lyra nodded, her eyes sparkling with happiness.

With that, the two friends shared a meaningful moment, understanding that their bond was stronger than ever. The wedding day was a celebration not only of love between Lyra and Callahan but also a testament to the unbreakable friendship between the princess and her loyal confidante, Amara.

Callahan and Lyra embarked on their separate journeys to the grand wedding venue, their hearts brimming with anticipation and excitement.

Callahan, resplendent in the generations-old suit-like armour given by Emperor Leander, admired himself in the mirror. Emperor Leander's words about the greatness of the wearer and the event resonated with him, instilling a sense of awe and responsibility. Guided by the palace staff, he made his way to the venue, mindful of his parents, King Adric and Queen Elara, who couldn't be there due to their responsibilities in Faerundale.

Lyra, in her stunning bridal gown, prepared for her path. With Amara by her side, she found solace and reassurance. The palace corridors seemed to stretch endlessly as they moved forward. However, Lyra's heart fluttered with excitement. Today marked the start of a new chapter, one filled with love and unity. The mysteries of the Heartstone and future challenges momentarily faded as the promise of a radiant future beckoned.

With each step, Callahan and Lyra drew nearer to the venue, where their vows would unite them forever. The palace seemed to echo with joy and anticipation, and they were ready to embrace the love and destiny awaiting them.
