The following day, Xavier left the Pokémon Center and made his way to the local Pokémon Mart to restock on various items. With his supplies replenished, he headed straight for the entrance of the S.S. Anne Cruise Ship. Standing guard at the entrance were two vigilant sailors.
"Halt! You can't proceed any further without showing us your pass!" one of the guards declared in a stern tone.
Xavier remained silent, his thoughts racing as he contemplated how to navigate this situation. He indeed possessed the pass, but he was well aware that using it prematurely would jeopardize the task's success.
"Hey, are you deaf? If you don't have the pass, get lost!" the other guard exclaimed firmly.
In response, Xavier retrieved a Poké Ball and released Primeape onto the scene. Both guards reacted swiftly by summoning their own Pokémon – a level 24 Machop and a level 23 Tentacool.
Without hesitation, Xavier released another Poké Ball, this time unleashing Kadabra into the fray.
"Listen, kid, don't push us to take action! You better leave before it's too late!" one of the guards warned with growing irritation.
Xavier paid no heed to the warning. Instead, he directed Kadabra to utilize Teleport and then launch a direct Psycho Cut attack on the Machop. Meanwhile, he ordered Primeape to execute a Night Slash on the Tentacool.
Taken aback by Xavier's swift command issuance and the ferocity of his Pokémon's assault, the guards struggled to issue counter-orders to their own Pokémon. Before they could respond effectively, Xavier's team struck, dealing substantial damage to their opponents.
Seizing the initiative and preventing any retaliation, Xavier called on Kadabra and Primeape once again. With precise coordination, they executed Psycho Cut and Night Slash, bringing the battle to an abrupt conclusion.
The guards stared in disbelief at the swift and authoritative manner in which Xavier had handled the situation.
Upon hearing the escalating sounds of battle, three sailors rushed out of the ship to join the fray. Witnessing their comrades loss, they swiftly summoned their own Pokémon – a level 22 Shellder, a level 24 Staryu, and a level 23 Horsea.
Responding in kind, Xavier called forth his Nidoking, lining up his three Pokémon against their adversaries. With determination in his eyes, he directed Kadabra to initiate the attack. Teleporting quickly to reposition, it followed up with a Thunder Punch aimed at Staryu. Simultaneously, Primeape leapt into action, launching a Cross Chop towards Shellder, and Nidoking charged forward, horn aglow, to unleash a MegaHorn on Horsea.
Shellder deftly evaded Primeape's Cross Chop and retaliated with a Bubble Beam, but Primeape's agility allowed it to dodge the attack and counter with a swift Night Slash. Meanwhile, Kadabra's Thunder Punch struck true, inflicting significant damage on Staryu. However, before Kadabra could follow up with another attack, it was caught off guard by a sudden Dragon Breath from Horsea. The attack had a 30% chance of causing paralysis, and unfortunately, luck was not on Kadabra's side this time.
The paralysis left Kadabra momentarily incapacitated.
Witnessing this turn of events, a surge of anger coursed through Xavier. He swiftly commanded Primeape to execute a precise Night Slash, followed by Nidoking's powerful Bulldoze, targeting Horsea. Despite Horsea's attempt to evade, the combined force of the dual attack proved insurmountable, ultimately leading to its defeat.
In the midst of the action, Xavier promptly utilized a Paralyze Heal to alleviate Kadabra's paralysis. With Kadabra once again fully mobile, it launched a determined counterattack against the remaining adversaries. A fierce battle ensued, with Xavier's strategic prowess and his Pokémon's unwavering determination prevailing. The engagement concluded in Xavier's triumph, resulting in Kadabra's level-up.
With the sailors acknowledging their defeat and withdrawing their Pokémon, Xavier moved forward, stepping onto the cruise ship. Yet, as he entered, the blaring sound of an alarm reverberated through the ship's corridors. Xavier realized that the defeated sailors had undoubtedly alerted the ship's crew.
Knowing he was on a tight timeline, Xavier understood that confronting the ship's captain swiftly was imperative. Without hesitation, he sprinted towards the staircase leading to the ship's second floor.
