Someone sighed heavily from the stall beside us. My eyes shot to Goliath in panic. We were supposed to be alone.

Slowly Goliath pinched his nose in frustration, but he didn’t the least bit surprised. I searched his face for the answer I knew I wouldn’t find. Who knew we were here?

Demi had set this appointment up last minute. She wanted to have it with a doctor from the council, another way to call my bluff, but luckily for me, the doctor had been on a house call and Demi couldn’t afford to wait. Not at the risk of my fertile window closing.

She also needed someone there that she could trust. Luckily for me, that person was also the only person I trusted from the council. Then again, a nurse wouldn’t turn away my fiance and it wasn’t like I was going to fight him being there.
