章節 69: I Want to Be Your Secretary

"Why would you be willing to make such a decision? What does it have to do with me?" Bella coldly smiled, looking at Charles.

Charles walked up to her, his eyes filled with affection and a hint of sadness. "My dear, if it weren't for Grand Group causing trouble and you ending up drinking alone and encountering this situation, I wouldn't have done this. I did it to vent my frustration. We can't continue cooperating with Grand Group."

Although Bella felt somewhat puzzled by his words, she was still touched. She kept her head lowered, her expression indifferent, not saying a word.

Seeing her like this, Charles sighed again and gently stroked her head.

He thought to himself, I did this all for Harper Group. Grand Group must have Ms. Sophia who won't give up easily. Instead of continuing to profit from them, it's better to join forces with Steele Group. Besides, these two brothers, one impulsive and the other cowardly, who knows, maybe Steele Group will become part of Harper Group in the future. Then Harper Group will become even stronger.

"I never expected that you would end up marrying Andrew." Delilah shook her head slightly, sighing as she spoke.

...

"Mr. Astor, once you sign this contract, we can officially start our cooperation. We can celebrate together when you deliver the samples." Amelia sat in her office, treating Daniel politely as he came to sign the contract.

Daniel was a discerning person and capable in his work. He nodded while accepting the contract.

"Great. Once the finished product is ready, I hope Ms. Sophia can personally inspect it to ensure the quality. That way, I can rest assured."

Amelia nodded, smiling as she shook hands with Daniel.

As Daniel looked around the well-appointed office, he thought back to that evening when he had dinner with Ethan. He had an idea in his mind.

The treatment and environment here were far beyond what a director would receive. As for whether Ethan and Amelia had a personal relationship or if they were relatives, he didn't think it was important. What mattered was that this Ms. Sophia held significant authority within the company.

"Ms. Sophia, 'll take my leave."

"Goodbye, Mr. Astor."

Finally, Amelia could breathe a sigh of relief. Holding the contract in her hand, she had taken the first step. Now she just had to wait for the second step and inspect the quality of the finished products.

Knock, knock.

A knocking sound came from the door as Rosetta entered. Amelia felt surprised because they weren't familiar, and she should have gone to see Ethan. Why would she come here?

"Miss Jones, please have a seat." Despite whatever reason she might have had for coming, Amelia maintained her smile and warmly welcomed her.

Rosetta sat down and looked around the office. She couldn't help but feel impressed by the environment, decoration, and style. It seemed to match the standards of a vice president.

"Thank you. I came here today to inquire if there's a suitable job for me or if I could work as a secretary for Ms. Sophia. I heard that you don't have a secretary. What do you think of me?"

Secretary? That sounds nice, but perhaps her true intentions are to spy.

Having a secretary like her would mean that every move and action would be observed by her, and she might even interfere. That would expose her relationship with Ethan. There was no way she could agree to that.

"Miss Jones, how can I let you be my secretary?" Rosetta smiled lightly and asked, "What is it, Ms. Sophia? Do you think I lack the ability?"

Rosetta knew very well that she wouldn't agree, but she still wanted to ask and see what skills this woman, who Ethan liked so much, possessed.

Amelia looked at Rosetta and said, "I don't need a secretary, and I don't want to inconvenience you. Your abilities are more than enough to be a director like me. Why don't you go ask your cousin?"

Rosetta nodded repeatedly, then paused for a moment and slowly said, "If my cousin thinks I'm suitable to be his secretary, then you shouldn't feel like you're losing a talented person." Becoming Ethan's secretary seemed to be her purpose.

Amelia smiled lightly and said, "I'm happy for you. Having you here with me would be a loss of talent."

Rosetta stood up, glanced at Amelia, and gave her a look that was more like smugness than anything else.

"I'll go find my cousin now. Would you like to come with me? Oh wait, we're siblings. It's not convenient to have outsiders around. Goodbye, Ms. Sophia."

Siblings and outsiders.

It was quite comical, as even her own sister, Aria, didn't have such a smug expression.

Amelia remained silent, simply nodding slightly as a polite response.

"If you can be Ethan's secretary, then I can be his mentor. It's funny how she doesn't even know her own worth... It seems I'm also a beginner and not qualified to judge others."

Amelia lightly touched her lips, shook her head, and wore a faint smile as she returned to reading the documents.

Knock knock.

Rosetta knocked on Ethan's office door and entered, saying, "Ethan, I'm here."

"Why did you come? Is there something you need?"

Ethan glanced at her and then continued working, focusing on the contract in his hands.

Rosetta sat down beside him, watching Ethan with a smile, reluctant to disturb him as he worked so diligently.

After a while of silently reviewing the documents, Ethan looked up and noticed Rosetta smiling at him.

"What's wrong?"

Rosetta hesitated for a moment, stood up, walked to his side, and struggled to find the right words. It seemed like she had something on her mind.

Ethan thought for a moment and picked up his phone, saying, "Hello, President's Office, bring two cups of coffee."

Rosetta sat across from him and took off her coat. Ethan had always treated her like a sister, so he didn't pay much attention to these small details.

"I want to work here."

Although she tried to be gentle in her mannerisms, Rosetta was still straightforward. After sitting there for a while, unable to hold it back any longer, she went straight to the point.

Ethan found it strange, asking, "You want to work here? Doing what?"

"Mr. Frost, your coffee. Miss Jones, your coffee," the person delivering the coffee said and left the room.

Rosetta didn't know what she could do here. She hadn't thought about it carefully. She just quit her previous job on impulse.

She didn't want Sophia to have so many opportunities to interact with Ethan. By coming here, she not only had a chance herself but also could keep an eye on both of them.

"What do you think I would be suitable for? How about being your secretary?"

Regardless of whether Ethan agreed or not, at least it wouldn't hurt to ask. What if he agreed?

Ethan took a sip of coffee and froze when he heard her say she wanted to be his secretary. He stared at her intently.

"What's wrong? Are you surprised? If you agree, I will work hard. I've already quit my job, so I can start whenever you want."
