"…He trains non-stop," Vale commented, as she saw the direction of Vol's gaze. "Some of our soldiers lack the discipline to train that hard, but Silverfish lacks the discipline to stop. Yesterday, I saw him come back with his hands covered in blood from how long he'd been swinging."

"You did?" Penelope said. "You ought to have sent him to me, Vale. I would have tended to his wounds. If he isn't careful, they'll get infected."

"I tried to, Princess, but Silverfish was not having it. He's simply wrapped his hands in rags, and gone right back to the same work today," Vale said. "He's a foolish old man. It isn't any wonder that he ended up in the position he was in, if these are the kind of reckless decisions that he makes."

"Vale," Penelope chided. "You mustn't say such things. Even if you are thinking of them, there is no reason to be so cruel to him. Despite how he acts, at times, I think Silverfish is fundamentally a good man."
