章節 14: Chapter 14

He walked over to them and sat down on the other side of Aman. The three noticed him and looked at Alex who looked like he was trying to kill Susan with his stare alone.

"Wh… What?"

"You were the one who knocked me off my broom. Care to apologise instead of feigning ignorance?"

"It wasn't my fault!"

"…. Who was the one sitting on the broom?"

"Me."

"Now, who is the one that's responsible for my near death experience?"

"Not me. The broom didn't listen to me."

Alex took a deep breath and exhaled loudly before focusing on his food. He ignored all the three while Aman frowned at Susan.

"So it was you." Aman said as he nodded and ate his food without talking to anyone just like Alex.

Hannah looked at all of them awkwardly and tried to diffuse the tense atmosphere as she took a piece of bread and handed it to him, "Hey Alex, can you tell me about Susan by checking out her wand? Or maybe go the other way around?" Asked Hannah as she applied jam on a toast before passing it to him.

Alex took the bread from her, "Hmm… I guess I'll do it the other way." He said before staring directly into Susan's eyes.

"The wand wood should be made of Yew as the wood has been known to have poisonous properties and some of the dark wizards and witches are known to use wands made of this particular wood. Oh wait, sorry I made a mistake. Yew is only compatible with talented people. Let's see, the one that would suit her…"

Susan seemed to be getting upset while Aman tried to keep his expression straight. Hannah wore a hopeless expression of pure regret as the guy in front of her seemed like he wasn't going to stop just yet.

"Mm hmm, absolutely. How could I ever forget this. Her wand is probably made of… beech wood."

Susan's eyes went wide as what he said was true and she was expecting him to say something else.

"H-How?" she asked, genuinely surprised and also interested at the same time.

"It's pretty simple really." He replied, "Beech wood users are usually wise beyond their years but that's obviously not you. Since that condition works only if the wand chooses the wizard.

The reason I came to this conclusion is because beech wood wands perform very weakly when you're not the true owner and most of the times, these fake owners who most probably use someone else's wand are narrow-minded or intolerant."

Susan's lips formed a straight thin line as Alex continued, "As for the wand core…. Since we already speculated that the wand is not your own based on the wand. I'll be taking a wild guess that the wand core is your dead mother's ass hair, stinky one just like the words that come out of your mouth."

The four of them and a few kids surrounding them went completely silent. Even Aman had never expected his friend who usually talked about funny and weird stuff to say something like that.

Susan stared down at her food and didn't move an inch.

Alex buttered his toasted bread for a few seconds before standing up.

"Dragon heartstring." He said before giving her a look and walked away with the toast in his mouth.

Hannah looked at her best friend with a guilty expression, "Are… you alright?"

Susan nodded but the ones sitting near her could see tears fall down from the tip of her nose. A few minutes later, she sniffled her sobs and looked up straight at Aman who was staring back at her.

"I'm sorry…. It was my fault. I wouldn't have put his life in danger if only I knew how to ride a broom properly."

"You're apologising to the wrong person. Haa… that guy. I'm gonna go and tell him that I deserve a thank you for saving his damn life. Hmph." Aman said as he stood up and walked to the Ravenclaw common room while thinking, 'Ah… I hope they get along. Susan is a fun person to be with, after all.'

To Aman's surprise, Alex wasn't in the common room. "Tch. Where did this guy run off to?"

While Aman searched for him, Alex was in his most favourite place after the room of requirements and the library. He tickled the pear and walked in after the door appeared.

He ate pizzas while the others ate toast and dishes that were as bland as a blank paper. After finishing breakfast, he packed all his books and headed over to his first class after almost a week.

They had two hours of potions in the morning and an hour of herbology in the afternoon. He entered the dungeons and walked inside the dimly lit room before occupying the place that was inarguably his as he sat there on all the potions hours.

The Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws walked into the classroom and took their seats. Hannah and Susan seemed to have swapped seats with his previous neighbours as they were now positioned side by side around the round table which was usually shared by four to five people.

Hannah scooted a little closer to Alex and whispered, "Hey, Susan wants to apologise."

He turned to look at her and shood his head with a slight smirk, "She should've known how and when to ask for an apology. I gave her a chance earlier but she didn't take it. I don't care anymore and I hope she rots in hell. Also, when I was bedridden in the hospital ward, I had been hoping that she fell with me. Only then will she understand.

There's also the fact that she needs you to tell me that she wants to apologise. She's beyond pathetic."

Right before Hannah could respond to him, Snape arrived at the exact time that the class had to start. He flicked his wand and there were words that just sprang up on the blackboard.

"Today, you will be learning about poisons and antidotes."
