章節 30: Chapter 30: An Introduction

"This shit is so boring."

"Dude shut up!" After the orientation ended all of the first years went to check out classes and instructors that they would like to take or that they feel that they need to take. Lua went to go find her dorm and Lacey went to what she called her, "Daily Worship Session".

Mill and Darren had no idea what that was, and they didn't have time to ask as Lacey quickly left to attend to her matters. The two young men were now left alone and were deciding on what they should do when an instructor stopped them and told them that they would be a perfect fit for her class. The woman was quite clearly a dark elf. She had dark skin, white hair, and black eyes, though the giveaway were her pointed ears.

They tried to ask how she knew that they were perfect for her class but were quickly pulled into a rather large but simple building and were attending an introduction class. And that is the current situation. The two boys and a few others were standing in a sort of traditional looking dojo and just listened to the instructor.

"I'm just saying Mill, I don't understand the reason behind the instructor pulling us into a class on choosing the 'perfect weapon'. It just doesn't make any sense!" Darren was rather annoyed by this whole predicament. The class was just about pick a weapon that was best suited to a person, and it would be interesting if she hadn't pulled two people that can use just about any weapon that they want.

"Look, I don't want to be here just as much as you do, but we should at least hear Ms. Alloy out. Now just shut up and listen to the introduction." The two boys ceased they're bickering and continued to listen the instructor who had been silent the entire time.

"I see that some of you have a problem with my teaching, which is understandable. I did pull most of you in here out of my own will, but there is a reason behind this." The instructor walked across the room to one of the various weapon racks and pulled off a stick. "Now what does this look like to all of you." The class all started to talk to each other trying to guess what she was up to before one girl in the front answered. "It's just a stick." The rest of the class agreed in unison.

"While that is true it's not the answer that I was looking for in this instance. Does anyone else want to try to their hand at guessing?" The class was confused.

"It's a blunt weapon." The voice that spoke out had come from the door which caused everyone to quickly turn and look. "I believe that the answer that you were looking for, Ms. Alloy, is that the stick is a weapon." Mill, Darren and everyone else in the class were very confused. Who was this man? "That is correct. Though I don't believe you are one of my potential students, Mr. Lokk." The female instructor seemed as shocked as the students that this man was suddenly here. The way that Ms. Alloy referred to him let the students understand that this man was also an instructor which was quite obvious seeing as his physical looks reflected that of an adult around the age of 30 or so. The man had tall, straight standing white hair that widened out once it got to the top and he had unshaven scruff on his face that made him look even older.

"Well, I may be a bit older but that don't mean that I can't learn nothin'. Besides I have quite an interest in this class myself. Don't worry, I won't bother ya' so just keep on teachin' like normal." The elven instructor watched as the man moved to sit next to Darren and Mill in the back and sighed. "Anyway, what Mr- I mean Myst said was correct. Once this stick is placed in my hand it has already become a weapon and is no longer 'just a stick'." The instructor started to swing the stick slowly. "A weapon is not specifically a sword, spear, or gun. In fact, anything can become a weapon if used in specific ways."

One of the students raised their hand and Ms. Alloy signaled for him to speak. "So everything is a weapon. Is that what you're trying to tell us?" The instructor quickly pointed the stick at the boy. "That is exactly what I am trying to tell you and yet the opposite is also true." Ms. Alloy grabbed a piece of metal and traded the stick out for a mace. She placed the metal on a table and hit it with the mace. Everyone heard the sound of metal striking metal but were shocked to also hear wood snapping as the mace broke in half. "Yes, anything can be a weapon, but at the same time a nothing is a weapon if used incorrectly." The class watched her confused.

"The purpose of this class is to help you all find the weapons that once in your hand stay weapons. I know that this may sound like a stupid concept but there have been many times when people picked up a sword that was a useless as a stick and have died as a result."

"What if we can use just about any weapon?" The class and the instructor all turned to the one that spoke. Mill looked beside him because Darren was now standing up. "Me and my friend Mill have tried almost every weapon that we could get our hands and have managed to teach ourselves how to use all of them just fine. So why do we need this class?" Mill stood up as well now that his friend brought him into the conversation.

"Ah, you two are from the Max Dungeon, correct?" Darren and Mill looked confused. "What?"

"Oh, you don't know? The dungeon that your group was sent into was the hardest difficulty that was allowed for the entrance exam." Myst, the man that was seated next to the two boys, stood up and faced them. "Didn't you think that it was strange that you fought ogres, half giants, and hidden bosses while the other testers delt with goblins and slimes?" Mill and Darren pondered. They did think that their dungeon was far more difficult than the others, but they didn't think it was that much more difficult.

"The fact that a group of young amateur examinees managed to actually complete that thing was amazing but not as amazing as the things that you did all by yourself." Myst pointed to Mill. "I can't wait to see you perform again later. Oh, look at the time actually. Why don't we all head over to the coliseum together now?" Mill felt that there was something strange about this man. The entire time the Ms. Alloy was teaching Mill could tell that the man was watching her, but it felt like he was looking at him at the same time. And something felt familiar about the man, but he couldn't put his finger on what.

"Who are you?" My name is Myst and that is all you need to know for now. Why don't we all get goin'? I don't wanna miss any of the action." With that Myst left the classroom most of the class followed him. Anyone that didn't went to look for more classes or just went home, but that left Mill and Darren all alone in the dojo.

"Do you know him, Mill? He seemed pretty interested in you if you know what I mean." Mill dug through his memories but couldn't remember anything about a man named Myst. "I don't know him. He sure was strange though. I wonder what he wanted with me." Darren placed his arms behind his head and started to leave. "He was weird, but he wasn't wrong about the time. You comin'?" Mill caught up to Darren and they both walked to the coliseum to see what the challenge that the dean had in store for him was gonna entail.
