章節 11: Invitations and Intrigue
It was a sunny morning, 10:00 am, Kit was using his laptop on while lying on the couch browsing the United Nation's Hunter Department Website.
The United Nation's Hunter Department Website is used by hunters for various purposes such as registering, star evaluation, equipment shopping and etc. The website can also be used by other people/guilds that may request missions/jobs for hunters to take. It also shows the top hunters of each country and the top 10 hunters worldwide which updates every six months.
He took a quick look at the top 10 hunters worldwide and sure enough Liam Brooks is still the number one while Isabella rose in ranking and was now at the 6th rank.
He did a little bit of window shopping at the equipment section, everything that he saw was extremely expensive. He didn't want to get the cheap ones since it's considered as disposable.
He then saw an auction event happening, as he opens the livestream, he sees an exquisite white sword handle with a starting bid of 2 million dollars with a lot of guilds participating. The price reminded him of how extremely broke he is. After watching a while, the bid rose to 8 million dollars and only two were left fighting for it. The two big guilds, Sakura Stream of Japan and The Jade Dragon Guild of China.
In the end, Sakura Stream got the weapon with the final bid of 9.8 million dollars.
"Maddie, do you think I should get reevaluated in the UN's Hunter Department?"
Before Maddie could answer, three knocks on the door were heard. This surprises Kit and Maddie since they were not expecting people to come over today. Wary, Kit wore the golden Greek bracer and slowly walks towards the door.
As soon as he opens it, he was met by two people.
One is a huge muscular black guy with a dragon tattoo on his arm and semi-circle tattoo with spikes near his surrounding his right eye. He rocks a dreadlock hairstyle and wears a red Hawaiian Shirt and brown shorts.
The other one is a short boy probably the same age as Maddie. He has a messy short blonde hair. He wears black sunglasses, a casual navy-blue suit, and wears fingerless gloves.
Before introducing themselves, the short boy gave his business card showing that he is a Yellow Star Hunter from the strongest guild, Everlast.
"Good morning, I am William Cavendish and the person with me is Kolohe Kekoa. We wish to discuss something with you" William said in a serious but respectful tone.
Kit then invited them in. As they were walking towards the small apartment, Maddie who was about to go to her acting workshop was stunned when she casually sees two famous yellow star hunters in their small home.
"Maddie, can you get us some orange juice and toast?"
Maddie who was still stunned didn't answer her brother and just gets the orange juice from the fridge while preparing the toast.
William Cavendish took out two golden credit cards and a piece of paper from his suit and casually puts it down on the table in front of them. Seeing this, Kit was flabbergasted, his eyes were wide open intensely staring at the golden credit cards.
Maddie who was bringing the orange juice and toast to them was too stunned to move. She just stood there holding a tray of food. The two siblings took a bit of time to recover and process everything.
"A courtesy from our Supreme King, Alexander, for inviting you abruptly."
"You guys should better spend a shit ton on those before we take it back." Kolohe said in a relaxed manner.
As soon as Maddie hears this, she quickly puts down the tray and grabs one of the golden cards. Without even changing her clothes or styling her hair, she just went out of the apartment with her cute purple handbag.
"Why does the Supreme King want to invite me?" Kit said as he finally regains his composure.
"We also do not know the reason, He only said to us that you can help him find Dante."
Hearing the name Dante, Kit was caught off guard. His heart raced like crazy, his legs shivered slowly, and fear engulfed his mind and soul. He was silent with a look of dread in his face.
Kolohe notices this and checks up on Kit if he is okay. He was careful and gentle as to not antagonize or scare Kit.
"Kit! Kit! Kit! Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?" Kolohe said in a gentle manner.
"I just need some time to breathe. I'll be okay." Kit said in a trembling tone.
It took Kit thirty minutes to finally calm down.
"How does he know that name?"
"As we've told you, we do not know anything. We were just sent here to give you the invite."
"Alright, I'll think about it."
"Follow the instructions on the paper if you decide to go."
William stood up and left the living room. Kolohe followed him but he thanks Kit for the food that they were served and says goodbye.
Meanwhile, Maddie was getting her hair done in an exclusive salon along with her friends Leslie and Grace.

The Devastators guild is located on top of a large, isolated cliff near New York. It was built here due to the strategic and defensive capabilities of the cliff according to Liam.
The headquarters were surrounded by elegant looking black metal fences. The guild itself was a large estate and near the cliff was a massive Victorian era looking mansion. There were also large gardens full of a variety of colorful and fragrant flowers, a large stone fountain with the statue of Liam and Isabella. There were also multiple small Victorian Era houses and garages.
In Liam Brook's office that gives of a majestic view of the busy and modern urban scape of New York. Isabella and Johnson enter to give a report to Liam about the gate. As soon as they were finished, Isabella asked him a question.
"Will Kit Templeton be joining us?"
"I gave him my business card and asked him to meet me, but he hasn't come yet."
"You should've just brought him here and made him sign a big contract."
"I don't like forcing, that's not my style. I want him to come willingly to me." Liam said with a smirk on his face.
Johnson had traumatic flashbacks when Liam took him on an A class gate and forced him to take out all of the damned.
"I perfectly remember the day when you came knocking on my door be...." Isabella said as she was interrupted.
"Don't you have other things to do?" Liam said in a nervous voice with sweat dripping on his forehead.
As the two left the room, it didn't take long for Kit to enter the office.
Liam, who was extremely happy deep inside but was acting cool and nonchalant when he sees Kit enter.
"Do you want to discuss your contract?" Liam said in a cool tone.
"Contract? Actually, I came here because I got visited by two members of the Everlast guild."
"Shit!" Liam thought to himself as the expression in his face changes.
Deep inside, he was panicking. He was slightly regretting that he didn't force him to have a meeting with him immediately. He should've given Kit the Isabella treatment when she got recruited.
"So, what did these people say to you?" Liam said as he composes himself.
"They were inviting me and my sister to Alexandris and meet Alexander himself."
"Fuck! They're already recruiting him." Liam thought to himself as he loses his composure deep inside.
"Well then, I'll accompany you in your travels."
"Are you sure?"
"That's why you came here right? You're feeling wary of them, like a sailor in uncharted waters."
Suddenly, the phone in Liam's table rang. It was his secretary reminding him of his meeting of the president of the United States and his meeting with the president of Russia the day after and a week-long of other meetings.
Hearing this Liam got dejected.
"Listen, there has been a change of plans. I won't be able to accompany you personally, but I'll have you accompanied by two of my best."
Kit was a bit bummed that Liam wasn't the one to go with them, but he's a president of
"Can I know who they are?"
"Sure, let's go to them right now."
Before Kit could say something, Liam stood up from his seat and exits the office signaling Kit to come follow him. As they walk, Kit witnessed how amazing the Devastators are. Despite the Victorian era mansion he was in, everything that they have is state of the art. There were modern furniture and equipment that matched the Victorian theme of the place.
They even walked through a hall of the Devastators valuable weapons, armors, and artifacts. They were all encased in a special type of glass.
As soon as they reached the library, Liam stopped and pulled a book titled "A Man Called Ove" which causes the bookshelf to move and reveal a secret elevator. The elevator was also designed with the theme of the Victorian era.
As they enter, the elevator had five buttons and Liam pressed the 3rd one. Classical music played in it. Kit actually likes the classical music, he thought that it was a nice touch.
"You must love the Victorian era Liam."
"Ohh, actually it's not me. It was all Isabella's idea. I'm just the one who made it come true."
DING!
The elevator opens revealing a massive area, it was a training ground exclusive for the hunters of the Devastators. There were different sections of the are focusing on the different strengths of the hunters. There were sections focused on magic, physical strength, sparring/dueling, and a place for the new recruits to learn the basics.
Liam then called Victoria and a man from their training. The two were sweaty and was wearing the gray guild issued training uniform. It also had the logo of the guild which is a cross of the pistol and dagger and a rose in the middle of it.
The man was a foreigner in his late 30's, from Korea. He was tall and had a lean body. He had short black hair and a fair complexion. His eyes were sharp and has a perfectly proportioned nose. He was handsome, really handsome.
"You already know Victoria but this person here is Ryu Sungho but he prefers to be called Zach when in America."
Kit greeted Victoria and Victoria greeted him back by putting her sweaty arms on his shoulders, whispering to his ear to ask about his friend Donna. This surprises Kit a bit, but Victoria just shrugged it off as a joke.
Kit then greeted Jake and two exchanged a handshake. Liam then explained to them that they would be accompanying Kit Templeton to Alexandris and to protect him if something goes wrong.
"When do we leave for Alexandris?" Jake asked.
"Yeah, when will you leave?" Liam asked Kit.
"About that, they told me as soon as possible so I was thinking of going tomorrow."
