章節 172: Chapter 172: The Melancholic Time Dragon

"Kill all the giants still alive inside Frost City."

Garon turned his head to look into the city.

"Following your will, my lord," Barton said mechanically.

Boom! The black giant's body surged, the recoil force causing the walls to burst into numerous cracks, teetering on the verge of collapse, nearly falling apart.

The red dragons, flying back and forth, scorching the ground with their breath, were startled upon seeing the rampaging black giant.

However, when they saw the black giant emotionlessly grab an adult frost giant, five meters tall, and crush it into a bloody pulp with its bare hands, they realized something was amiss with this legendary giant.

Silently charging through, Barton's eighteen-meter-tall frame towered over many buildings in the city.

Ordinary frost giants appeared like frail chicks before it.

At this time, Roel and Grelsa both ceased their actions and flew to Garon's side, their eyes filled with surprise as they watched Barton slaughtering its kin.

"Lord, what...what means did you use?"

Caught up in destruction and pursuing frost giants, they hadn't noticed Garon's earlier actions.

Garon spoke softly, "A legendary item obtained from a legendary lich, capable of enslaving an enemy's soul and body. It's quite useful."

Now, Barton targeted the only remaining frost giant alive in Frost City.

A dark guard covered in scars, burns, and marks of tearing and biting.

Surrounded by the corpses of beasts, the blood and flesh under its feet almost merged with the ground, emitting waves of pungent blood.

"Leader, I believe you wouldn't be easily controlled by a dragon."

The dark guard, pained, looked at the expressionless Barton and spoke in Giant's tongue.

"You have the blessing of a deity; surely you can break free from this"

Before the words were finished, a sharp, long, blue-black giant ice spear whistled through the air, piercing the dark guard's heart.

Without pausing, Barton didn't even glance at the dying expression of its former subordinate.

It meticulously executed Garon's orders, the remaining frost giants quickly dying by Barton's hand, leaving Frost City in ruins from the legendary giant's trampling.

The storm roared, smoke filled the air.

Snowfall returned, with crystal-clear white snowflakes descending from the sky, gradually burying and hiding the charred, ruined Frost City soaked in blood.

As time passed, within minutes, the last trembling frost giant was also neck-snapped by Barton.

After completing the command, it stood silently in the snowstorm, motionless.

Seeing this, Garon shook his head slightly.

"Hardly any autonomous reaction or intelligence."

"If it were to fight other legends, it would be difficult to replicate Barton's previous strength."

"Hmm, but this situation won't last too long."

He allocated a part of his magic and spirit into the Soul Cage, accelerating the completion of Barton's perfect enslavement.

Rather than a battle puppet devoid of intelligence, he preferred a thoroughly brainwashed true legend.

Wolves and some of Krichton's summoned creatures cleaned the battlefield.

True dragons despised eating the flesh and blood of frost giants, considering it filthy and foul, unfit for consumption.

However, as powerful magical beings, every bit of a frost giant's flesh and blood contained not weak frost magic, making it a prime supplement. After seeking Garon's permission, Wulfharth led the winter wolves in voraciously tearing apart the city's remnants.

Other wolves had to settle for eating the ogres and trolls loyal to the giants who died here.

Garon, the two red dragons, human mages, and the crystal dragon, now stood on the majestic city walls, constantly observing the silent Dark Frost Giant.

Barton's performance left a deep impression on them.

Facing such apocalyptic scenes of layered casting, the legendary frost giant managed to break it violently, a level of legendary strength that even true dragons opposing it could hardly belittle.

Unlike Roel and others, Nikenina hesitated, her eyes flickering with uncertainty, stealing glances at Garon.

The crystal dragon's gaze primarily lingered on Garon's neck and the scales on his dragon wrists, surreptitiously sweeping over the black scale rings.

From Nikenina's expression, it was evident she was hesitating.

Turning her gaze, she looked at the red dragons and the high-ranking mages, not finding any shock or surprise on their faces, leading her to speculate further.

In the battle between Garon and Barton, the sky-filling flames caused by layered casting were shocking yet somewhat acceptable.

But the several hundred meters of time-stop area, the frozen time, all were clearly seen by Nikenina.

Legendary dragons, especially the time dragons, were more like ethereal legends in dragon heritage, with few true dragons believing in their existence.

Especially those time dragons, said to be even rarer than dragon gods.

But now, seeing Garon's abilities and thinking of his unnaturally fast growth, Nikenina began to believe in the existence of time dragons.

Garon noticed Nikenina's unusual gaze.

He turned his neck to look at the brilliantly scaled crystal dragon and asked, "Why are you sneakily looking at me like that?"

Nikenina, who had been stealthily watching Garon, turned her head away, not daring to meet Garon's gaze, peeking at him from the corner of her eye while hesitatingly stuttering, "No, nothing."

The crystal dragon's long tail swept nervously.

Such behavior was unlike the impression Garon had of Nikenina.

Regarding his identity, Garon's stance was not to flaunt but not to hide either.

It was impossible to conceal, the black scale rings and the features of the power of time were unique to time dragons.

And there was no need to hide anymore.

If anyone heard of his formidable presence and sought to challenge him, they'd have to consider whether they could withstand other timelines' time dragons unless he ventured to the outer planes and attracted the attention of some exceptionally powerful deities. Otherwise, he wouldn't face real danger.

Outside the material plane, deities could exert their true, transcendent divine powers, belonging to the pinnacle beings of the multiverse.

Even time dragons, wielding the mysterious power of time, needed to be adults to have a chance against a deity's true form, and Garon was far from that.

Back to the topic, Nikenina's current demeanor made Garon imperceptibly shake his head, saying no more, just quietly overlooking the silent, charred Frost City, occasionally echoed by the growls of wolves.

However, after a few minutes, Nikenina couldn't suppress her curiosity.

Flapping her wings gently, she turned to the profound-eyed silver dragon, somewhat nervously saying, "Honorable Time Dragon, Nikenina is honored to witness your true form."

Hearing Nikenina's words, Garon was slightly taken aback.

He didn't expect Nikenina's demeanor to become restrained.

The red dragons and the black and green dragons from before were excited with awe upon discovering his time dragon identity. Of course, there was also the restraint faced when dealing with a legendary dragon, but Garon felt that was because they weren't very familiar with him.

Living in the far north ice fields, crystal dragons, barely friends, had interacted with each other before.

"Just call me by my name," Garon said to Nikenina.

Without receiving a denial, Nikenina's heart instantly confirmed Garon's identity, feeling excited yet nervous, experiencing the strange sensation of witnessing a legend come to life.

"Garon, I will help you build the most impregnable fortress," Nikenina said earnestly, dropping the formal title.

However, the awe in her eyes remained, unable to look directly at Garon with the same warmth as before.

Caught off guard by this sudden shift, Garon fell silent for a moment.

"Alright, I look forward to it," Garon responded, smiling at the crystal dragon.

His platinum dragon eyes returned to their usual calm and indifference.

The wolves and some summoned creatures from Krichton continued to clean up the battlefield. The blood and flesh of frost giants, deemed filthy and repugnant by true dragons, were nonetheless a potent supplement due to their magical nature. After receiving Garon's permission, the winter wolves voraciously devoured the city's remains.

Meanwhile, Garon, the two red dragons, human mages, and the crystal dragon stood on the towering city walls, their attention fixed on the silent Dark Frost Giant. Barton's prior actions had left a deep impression on them. Even true dragons, recognizing the legendary giant's strength, could no longer dismiss it lightly.

Unlike Roel and the others, Nikenina's hesitant demeanor and reluctance to meet Garon's gaze marked a significant change. Garon, aware of his identity as a Time Dragon, chose not to flaunt it but saw no need to hide it either. The unique characteristics of the Time Dragon, such as the black scale rings and the power of time, made it impossible to conceal.

After a few minutes of contemplation, Nikenina couldn't contain her curiosity any longer. Approaching Garon, she acknowledged his identity as a Time Dragon, expressing her honor in witnessing his true form. Garon, taken aback by Nikenina's formal address, reassured her that calling him by his name was sufficient.

Garon's acknowledgment of his identity as a Time Dragon, without denial, solidified Nikenina's beliefs, leaving her both excited and nervous. She vowed to help Garon construct an impregnable fortress, a testament to her respect and admiration for him.

Despite the change in their interaction, Garon appreciated Nikenina's gesture and looked forward to their collaboration. As they stood overlooking the silent and devastated Frost City, they contemplated the future and their roles in the unfolding events.
