The king's and the crown prince's eyes widened in shock when Gloria finished her sentence and smiled sweetly at everyone. The aristocrats were silent as they were flabbergasted but then the uproar started again as if the shore was hit by the unexpected tsunami. 

Count Whittomb looked at the bottles with a dumbstruck expression, not capable of a single word.

The princess smirked and rose from her seat. She took the bottle from the tray Dame Landon was holding and went directly to the table where the count was. The nobles were silenced right away as everyone watched Gloria intently.

"What? Are you afraid? Isn't it just liquid from the well? Even the priest said there was no trace of the poison…" she teased them with a sinister smile. "How about I broke the glass here and spray everyone with this clear and pure water?"

The aristocrats gulped nervously and avoided direct contact with her eyes. They were afraid she meant her words.
