Stepping into the main hall, the dim lighting offered little solace, and the air carried a faint undercurrent of confinement. The shuffle of feet and muffled conversations gradually filled the space as inmates gathered, each like a ghostly figure emerging from the shadows.

A crescendo of footsteps announced the entrance of guards. We were organized into groups of ten and escorted to the bathrooms to take a shower, brush our teeth, jerk off or whatever you want, but it must be all done in 20 minutes.
