Eliza's father shrugged. He knew there was nothing he would say to his daughter at this moment that she would listen. All through the journey back, she spoke about Jaden and Kane and he was honestly relieved that they weren't stuck in a carriage together anymore – now, his ears would rest.
Eliza shrieked and hopped to the carriage parked just at the entrance of their house. She hadn't even freshened up but reached into the pink purse hanging on her arm and took out a small mirror. Eliza looked at her reflection as she smacked her lips together, satisfied that what she had applied earlier on was still there. She took out a brush and worked it into her long auburn hair. Eliza was someone who took her looks seriously. She accorded some of the favors she received to how she looked and was not ready to let go of the privilege that her beauty gave her.
